Luck in any game, cards, craps, pool, is there for one reason, it's called FUN. Why do you think 9-ball caught on so much? You had 14.1, 8-ball, 1pocket, banks, rotation, (god knows what else) and 9-ball took off.
If you don't like luck in the game, DON'T PLAY THE GAME. Stop *****ing about it and let others enjoy it. Oh, and watch pro's play and tell me how often they get lucky, less than 5% of the time? It's not even worth a discussion when the majority of what you see is skill.
Yes, is true that playing the game is about having fun. You can play without the rule when you play your friends and family.
But then when we are playing on a tournament, is it about fun? or is it about playing your best game. No one pays money to get in a tournament just for fun. You get in there because you want to compete, you want to win. The same with pool leagues.
In the Philippines and many other countries this game is played with the call pocket rule.
Why are we here so afraid of adding this rule? Maybe because we are not better?
That is not true. People please, don't be afraid of changes if they are for better improvement.
And please, if you are going to argue that the call pocket rule is not good, give a valid reason. Don't say that "If you don't like luck in the game, DON'T PLAY THE GAME", because I like the game and I'll play it anyway, I JUST WANT IT TO BE BETTER. Many times I played a person for money or in a tournament and when they make a non call ball, or in the wrong pocket they say "sorry, that was not my intention but got lucky". Many times I've seen players (even myself) that get angry with themselves when this happens because they just played bad.
