Almost all of the top tennis players and golf players have a coach. Just wondering, how many of the top men and woman pool players have a coach? Cetainly Jasmin has one as they talk about him all the time when Jasmin in on ESPN, but who else? And if not many do then why not. Is it a money issue?

First!! (just because I have wanted to put this in a post :) )
It could be that there is a shared mentality regarding coaching and instruction in pool, at least in America, where if the coach isn't also a world class player many players don't want any help from them.

Some people, certainly not all, also seem resistant to pay for help with their game though they will gladly ask for the same thing for free as though instructors aren't worth getting any pay at all for what they do.

Some players (not all) would rather gamble with someone else in hopes of developing their game to the next level. There are many threads that touch on this issue in different ways.

And yes, some players may not be able to afford a coach.

This is just my perspective on the question. Your mileage may vary.

Europe and the Far East have different ideas on instruction and coaching. Here in the U.S.A. most players would rather buy a new cue, than spend some money really learning how to use it.

How could it be anything but the money aspect?
Who wouldn't like to have a great player or high level teacher giving them as much help as possible?
Unless you are being coached for gambling there is no way financially to justify spending money on a coach. {Unless you already have plenty of cash and just want to play better and possibly win part of the money you spent back.}

What self-respecting American pool player would use a cue in the condition of Ray Reardon's?

Who is Ray Reardon and what has he done with the cue?
Snooker player, World Champion six times. :grin::grin::grin:

So you think Jasmin is stupid to have a coach who gets a portion of her winning?
