I was curious about the specs on these cues. Specifically the OD measurements at the joint, a-joint and very rear. If any one has them can you please post them.

Are all of Joe's cues made to the same specs?

Bryan

my buddy has one.i will try to get it to a mic.i would guess .835-.840 and i would bet they are all the same.

Well Brian, it now appears that you have all the information that you need, that is if you want Dave's cues specs. I don't know what Joe's specs are on the Cognoscentis but up until maybe the last year that he was making them, I was told that all specs were the same. He wouldn't change anything. All his parts were made to a certain spec so as to fit all his cues and he wouldn't deviate from that. I thought I read that he was going to start making a few changes not long before he moved but I'm not sure if he did or not.

Liked would qualify as an understatement,
legend has it he would not vary the cue length by as much
as a silly millimeter

BTW - it is 57 1/2 but who's counting?

when i talked to joe about his cues,,,and that was when he was just starting out, he was adamant about all his specs. being a very good player he was very particular about everything.

so my guess is that the specs are the same unless they've evolved into something he thinks delivers a better hit. if you're asking does he change his specs from customer to customer, i'd say definitely not.

i abso didnt attack dick.. i was talking to bryan not dick. i have specs on many many custom cue makers. so i can mimic their feel for my customers.

just wondering how many cogs he mic'ed before he posted his post? my guess is zero

That's because you make it so easy. Saying something smart about most of your posts is similar to clubbing baby seals. If you have the specs Bryan asked for, why didn't you post them for him? That would have answered the first half of his question. Instead you just wanted to see yourself in print with some more useless knowledge, to him, or most, about YOUR cues.

By the way, I did answer the second half of his question or did you forget to read that far?

Dick

tap, tap, tap.sorry Brian my buddy said he sold his Cog last week.there are a few for sale in the Wanted/For slae section, maybe some of those guys could mic theirs.

I've had tones of cogs come through for new finishes and wraps. I happen to notice how simalur the cue felt to mine. So i mic'd it. .845 at the joint, and 1.255 at the butt, 28 3/4 length cue and shaft. I just putt a wrap on a cog a couple a months ago and noticed the butt felt fat, it mic'd at 1.270 at the butt, still .845 at the joint. In my opinion i think he shoots for 1.250 at the butt 12 3/4 mm ferrules with a long thin pro taper. thanks Darrin@hillscues.com

Darrin,i got that Bubinga fill slpice form Jamie and Matt and love it.i think he said it was your 3rd full splice.keep up the good work.i am trying to get Murray to make a bunch of those ferrules.they play perfect.

Several years ago... when I got my Cog, Joe Gold said he only offered one ferrule size, that being 13 1/8mm and very stiff taper. I later had it cut down a little to 13mm and less stiff. So probably the shaft you saw had already been retapered and cut down. Just a guess.

the only useless knowlegde provided on this thread was you saying they are all the same. you didnt answer how many you mic'ed before u said that.

if you read my post i have mic'ed cogs. and i have about 10 cuemakers i try to mimic their feel. cog is one. i loook at that list every day and HOLY CRAP!!! looks like hillscues put up almost the same exact numbers i did. THAT WAS FOR MEMORY SIR.

i dont know where your from as far as technology but i can go online any second of any day on my phone. i dont have to be home

maybe you should stick to clubbing them baby seals...

Dick doesn't quite have the mic'ng skills yet.
He's going to a machining school to learn advance mic'ng.
I heard he's using body fat caliper to measure diameters.
Joey~ Is just a private so dun't like to pull rank~
