Since I got on the Internet newsgroups starting with rsb in 1997 I have never, ever said that you need a metal lathe to build a cue. Quite the contrary, I have always said that the, what I call toy lathes, can be used for building cues and that there is a place for them. What I've always said, and you and Chris disputed, was that a larger lathe once set up is more accurate and much more efficient in the use of time involved in building a cue. You just said that your time is dollars. In that thread, on a different post, you also said that you intended to buy a larger lathe in the future as the one you were using (Hightower) took to long for the different changes that needed to be made. Then later in the same thread you state that the Hightower is just as fast and just as accurate, as any metal lathe and in fact, that it is so accurate that you don't even check to see if your work is running true, plus the metal lathes weigh 2 tons and the Hightower cost a fraction of their price and all of these statements are myths.
That, my friend, is what caused the heated debate. Your exaggerations, not my propensity for arguing. I'm not picking on you but when I see someone make a false statement, especially in a forum that is supposed to be promoting knowledge, then I will call them on it.
I rest my case
