WPBA in Peoria is 7/26-30
IPT N A Open is 7/22-30

Are Allision, Monica, Karen, Gerda, and Helena not going to the IPT? Thanks. Johnnyt

I suspect they will make it to the girlie tournament in plenty of time:D

From what I understand the IPT will help with the arrangements to get the WPBA players to Peoria on time. If there are WPBA players who are still in the IPT tournament at the later stages then I gues they'll have to make the decision as to what to do. Personally, I'd forgo the entry fee at the WPBA and let the other players have their shot. The WPBA has a waiting list of players eager to fill up the brackets.

The question is, will the WPBA allow them to pass up one of their "Classic" tournaments in favor of playing in the IPT?
Don't they have rules concerning that sort of thing?
I seem to remember the WPBA stopped their players from participating in the DCC two years ago and there wasn't even a WPBA tournament conflict.

This may end up being a real problem for some of the ladies, if they happen to play well in the IPT tournament.

The WPBA has discussed it and worked it out to their satsifaction.

I'm happy to hear that. I wouldn't want to see any of the ladies forced to make that difficult choice.

Any of the women that make it into the finals will be put on KT's private jet and flown over the Peoria casino to parachute out. No dresses allowed. Johnnyt

Actually, I don't know if it is a rumor or not, but I did hear he would fly them back to Peoria. :p

The fact is that the IPT field of 200 will be reduced down to 36 by the end of play on Wednesday. In view of the arrangements made (and I give the IPT a lot of credit here), that means that nobody scheduled to play WPBA Peoria who fails to make the last 36 at the IPT event will miss WPBA Peoria.

Of course, I'm sure most will agree that only Allison and Karen have a chance to reach the last 36, and I, for one, doubt either will survive that far. Certainly, as one having purchased tickets to WPBA Peoria hoping and expecting to see all the superstars of women's pool play, I'll feel cheated if either or both of the top two ranked players don't appear.

Of course, any woman not eliminated by the end of Wednsesday's play at the IPT event will be looking at a payday of at least 17,000, over 30% more than the amount of the winner's check at Peoria. Hence, you can be sure they will stay there and skip WPBA Peoria if it comes to that.

There may be no conflict of schedule here, but if there is, it will be a shame. Tough to fault the WPBA or its players here, as the WPBA event schedule was in place long before the release of the IPT event schedule. Player waivers were granted long before the WPBA knew of the conflict.

Right. But if they do get to round 3 and are in the last 60 then that means that they will play all day Wednesday until around 10 pm that evening. Then packing and getting to the airport and to Peoria might not be all that easy.

Doesn't the WPBA start on Wednesday morning with a player's meeting? Isn't it mandatory for all players to attend?

It is realistic that some women will make it to round 2. Even that makes it tough for them to get to Peoria on time. Forget about being rested and ready to play.

It should be interesting.

The things people will do for money. Ya gotta love it.

WPBA Players Meeting is Wednesday evening and attendance is mandatory, but it sounds like the WPBA plans on bending on this one. Actual match play doesn't begin until Thursday.

I'm sure that any player still in the IPT event will be included in the draw of WPBA Peoria. Remember, seeded players don't play in the first two sessions of play in WPBA events, so in practice, the seeded players don't have to appear until mid-afternoon on Thursday.

Getting there on time for their matches should be no problem at all for the ladies not qualifying for Thursday's IPT session.

As you suggest, though, any lady going through such an ordeal will be tired and, perhaps, not well positioned to play their best nine ball in Peoria.

sjm,

You might be better off going to Vegas to watch the ladies.

Then, if they get eliminated you can follow them to Peoria.

But of course if you do that you take a risk of being called a "stalker".

Now that I think about it...

Conceivably, in such cases, they could fly in to Peoria (via Chicago) on Thursday AM. They lose two hours flying East, so an early morning flight could get them there by mid afternoon, with time to go to their rooms, freshen up and come down for play at 4-5PM or so. It would be tough. Much easier to get a late night 'red eye' to Chicago on Wednesday.

Another point worth noting here is that if Karen or Allison advanced to Thursday's play at the IPT but failed to survive that round, they would forfeit their Thursday match at Peoria.

Still, if they made it there for their Friday loser's bracket match, they'd need just four wins to reach the single elimination round, and either would have to be favored to do just that.
