Congrats to Alex - The Lion Sleeps Tonight

After winning the World Pool Masters he still had enough juice to come back and beat Shane Van Boening in a race to 100 games - 10 ball.

For those that didn't pay for the PPV, do yourself a favor and buy this DVD!!! It was awesome to watch. Lot's of swings back and forth from two of the very best in our sport

I bet after these two huge wins, Alex will get a good nights rest. :)

Here's wishing him luck in the ten ball event

couldnt agree with you more... but damm man the female on your avatar is freakinnnn nice...

First off congreats to both players for giving it there all. I almost always bet against Shane in long matches because as I stated here over a year go I think he's a front runner. He always seems to jump out of the gate, get a big games won lead, and then free stroke his way to victory.
No one else but Alex has put that kind of pressure on him in the past.

I took Shane in this match up because the first bet I made was with someone I won the last bets with and let them pick whom they wanted this time. I found myself rooting for Alex from day two on, even though it would cost me money if he did win.

That has to be one of the top ten matches I've sweated in the last 50 years. Thanks Alex, Shane and TAR for putting it on.

I know Shane is a complete player and has no weaknesses in his game. His work ethic for practice is probably the best in the game. The only thing you can't practice is heart and the pressures of playing someone as good as you for big money. Johnnyt

Have you ever ordered a dvd from the action report? If so, did you receive it?

CONGRATS INDEED!!!! I hadn't seen Alex play before the WPM which I attended and he won me over for LIFE then. I posted in another thread that if it came down to "heart", nobody had to like it, not even Shane. I'm not sure but I think in the WPM and then the SVB match, Alex trailed in EVERY match, and ended up winning every match.

That kinda stuff builds character and champions like nothing else. After watching last nights match, I can't imagine EVER betting against him!

Btw, last night was my first TAR PPV and I had heard some negatives about the sign up process and the feed...Well, I signed up in 60 secs, paid via paypal in another 60 seconds and was watching what turned out to be a solid uninterrupted feed in another 60 seconds. Great job TAR and what a perfect match to see as my first, it don't get no better than THAT!!!

Victory pictures of ALEX winning WPM HERE

I bought the Straight Pool race to 400 dvd Schmidt Harriman from the first challenge. It was delivered quickly. No problems. I intend to buy the next one as soon as it is available.

I can't wait for the dvd.
Congrats to little Alex.
I didn't think he had a chance but he sure SHOCKED the world.

I ordered the SVB v Frost & Frost v Montal DVD, and yes I received it within 2 or 3 days of ordering.

:D I am going to order it too. I want to see and hear Alex singing BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY while still behind by 7 to 8 points. It was after that that he started to put the pressure on SVB. Alex is such a character. The pool world needs more players like him.

I did had a chance seeing and talking to Alex and SVB and both of them played lights out. Worth every penny I payed to watched them.

Alsti,
I ordered their first match up (SVB vs Alex) from TAR & received it a few days later. Not weeks, days. No problems whatsoever & smooth as can be.

The ONLY thing lacking in TAR productions is multiple camera angles and a menu of the games on the DVD (if that's what that's called when they have each game set where you can go to it individually)

Although Accu-Stats has spoiled many of us, from my perspective, you get lots of pool for the buck with TAR. They are doing an outstanding job in bringing us these matches that otherwise, we could only read about. And for the budget they have to work with, their final product is great!

And congrats to both Alex & Shane for more great pool!

I watched the live feed of the Second challenge between Schmidt and Harriman a week or two ago. 3 nights and like you said, the signup was painless, the feed was excellent and the chat was ok, too.

Ahemmm, where to begin. As you said, first of all congratulations to both players for a terrific match. Next, Shane might be a front runner because there are hardly any players that can keep up with him. If you usually bet against him in long matches, you've booked a lot of losers, because he usually wins long matches. Alex played like the Champion that he is, to say nothing of catching a gear when he needed to. I give him all the credit in the world.

I knew when the match began on Sunday that I could only watch for about two hours each night. 5:00 AM EST comes early. Still I watched both Monday and Tues as late as I could. When I went to bed last night at 10:30 PM the score was 84-70 SVB. The announcers had mentioned at the start of the night that Alex didn't have to like spotting Shane 7 games to 37. I think the score at that time was 70-63. When the score was 84-70 Shane had just won 4 in a row. His break was working and Ken Schuman said he had just smoked a cigarette outside with Alex and he was trying to be cheerful. Typical Alex...where does he find the strength ? I thought that SVB was unstoppable at that point.

Finally, SVB may be a front runner, meaning that he prefers to be in front. Nothing wrong with that. I prefer it too, don't you ? Remember, he's only 24 and is still getting seasoned. I think he has plenty of heart just to get in the box with Alex on his own money. The Filipinos all respect Shane because he'll play ANYONE, and went to DCC hoping to play Efren ! This time Alex caught a gear. Next time it may be SVB. Don't be surprised. Shane's not going away..Tom

I ordered that exact dvd in February and still haven't received it. Maybe my mailman's mule ate it.
