Danny was 148 balls short of breaking Mosconi's record, how cool would that have been to get caught on tape. Is there a prize somewhere for this if it is broken?, that might give players motivation to do it.

more impressive than Mosconi's

You may have heard already...

EXTRA! EXTRA! A 379 Ball Run is the Brand New "14.1 Highest Run Ever Captured On Video" recently set by former UPA Pro Tour 9-Ball Champion and Derby City Banks Champion Danny Harriman of Springfield, Missouri... On a moderately tough Brunswick Gold Crown II. He will be releasing the video soon with commentary.

John Schmidt has the previous video record run with his 366.

Congratulations to Danny! That's quite an accomplishment!

This record seems to be more impressive than Mosconi's.....anyone disagree?

I think it is but most people are hung on numbers.

526 is greater than 379.

While not on tape, John Schmidt had a run of 400, I don't doubt it, but it would be great to have that one on tape too.

Everyone remembers 714 (Babe Ruth), I don't have a clue what it is now.

I hope Danny or John beats it in my lifetime.

I also agree that I would love to see Danny and John play again.

Not to mention only 25 balls from beating Schmidt's 403.....

I know Schmidt's 403 and 400 weren't on tape but both runs had a ton of witnesses. One of them if not both were done at Barry Berman's Cue Master Billiards and one of them for sure, I heard there were a lot of people watching....I heard Neil's Feijn << not sure of spelling, just ran 400 and something a few months back. There is nothing like having these runs on video though. If I played like Schmidt or Danny I would have the tape rolling everytime I did practice runs. At anytime either is capable of astroplane mode!! 379 is sikkkk!!! John has a 366 on tape....Both of these feats are crazy great!!!!

There's a prize now! I will pay $10,000 to the first player who can break Mosconi's record of 526 balls, playing on a 9' table with at least moderately tough pockets (read that no buckets). The two stipulations are that it MUST be recorded in its entirety, plus I want 50-50 rights on the sale of that DVD. I'm stupid like a fox.

P.S. Nice shooting Danny, glad to hear you're playing good. Hope to see you in Tunica and Vegas.

That DVD would be worth many times the $10K

I was wondering if this was the biggest "prime number" run in history, for 379 is, indeed, a prime number. Even if a higher run is videotaped, this will likely remain the "highest prime numbered run" on videotape.

Hell of a run, Danny!

sjm -- Here's a report (reliability unknown) of a higher prime-number run of 491 by Thomas Engert: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=3924030&postcount=27

And here's a report of a 421 (also a prime number) by Allen Hopkins: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=2456097&postcount=17

[Note the 492 for Engert at the top of that list -- makes me wonder about the other report of 491 for him!]

Good job Jay, I can see this record being beat within 6 months....Ron

What I hope this starts is a pissing contest among all the guys who are able to make huge runs and the 526 gets broken, the record might actually make the news and some more positive press on pool. I have said for years If I had the ability to get near that record-I'd do everything I could to break it. Since I dont play that good I don't bother, who wants to see a guy run 5's and 6's.

All good 14.1 players should trym and that means you too Max

Good run Danny.

Best
Eric

I'll take half that action......(seriously)

I Think you and I should figure out a way to make who ever breaks the record on tape lots of $$$ and we can make some $$$. This way the player has more incentive and deserves the more of the $$$, we get paid a reasonalbe fee for posting up the $$$ and
putting the chhallenge together. I'll partner up if you like, it would be good for pool, who loses? no body, the fans, player, us we all get waht we want, and pool gets on the news i have the ability (nowadays) to get it on the Press Wire so it will get picked up by about 15K-20K news outlets; how strong is that, dont cost a dollar either.

I find it interesting that Mr 400 believes he can break the record if not him someone else . That could be true since there are undocumented runs from him Willie and others
You would think that if the record could be broken and it was worth so much money to be caught on tape a guy like mr 400 who complains about the money in pool would be attempting to break that record everyday
Or maybe just maybe it's a little harder than they think
