Congrats to Earl Strickland!

i watched earl miss a lot of shots all weekend and think he got lucky by not running into Mikes A game in the final. anyways congrats to earl

Well, if that were the case, Mike should be lucky he did NOT run into Earl's A game, otherwise Earl's 13-5 victory could have gotten ugly, and fast :)

i think you have that backwards but that's just my opinion.

I think you should give Earl some credit here....
..don't know of anybody else who has 6 world titles and 5 US Opens.
...and fields were tough then, these are no cheese titles.

Dechaine is good but he has a long way to go before people start calling him one of the greatest ever to play. Earl`s high gear still intimidates people, even late in his career.

the mind is a mysterious thing...

Kiamco often finds a way to lose. He is the best player who almost never wins a decent event other than Bar Table. It isnt a coincidence.

I remember watching an Accu-Stats match where Rudolfo Luat dogged a straight in 9 ball which would've won the match against Earl.....Earl went on to win the next 2 racks and the match.....it's weird but I have seen it also during another tournament final where an underdog was about to win against a great player, but dogged a straight in 9 ball......it's almost as though the person is thinking, "wait a minute, what's goin' on here? I'm not supposed to win...."

Directly reminds me of an account in one of the non-fiction pool books (I forget which one, I've read so many of them) that centers on the gambling action at one of Paulie Jansco’s Johnston City so-called “Hustler Jamborees.”

Minnesota Fats wore Richie Florence ragged after about 5 straight evenings of gambling wherein Fats would pull up every night (as soon as Richie got hot) saying I need to get some sleep, I’m a lot older than you, son. Fats knew that Richie *wouldn’t* get much sleep because being a very good-looking guy in his early 20s, Richie like to party till the wee hours with more than a few drinks and the ladies who always kind of buzzed around him.

By the fifth night of this marathon gambling, strictly on Fats’ terms, Fats had relieved Richie of all the $25,000 Richie had won prior to matching up with Fats. Some say Richie had won a bundle previously at a racetrack.

The story goes that Richie was so worn out (and Fats meanwhile so well-rested) that he lost the final deciding 9-ball game where he missed when the 9 was on the foot spot and Richie’s cue ball was less than 6 inches behind it, forming a dead straight-in shot to the corner pocket. Fats won that final match and gathered up the cash.

With Buddy Hall watching, Richie, dog-tired but can't believe he missed, sets the easy shot up again . . . and misses it a second time.

Sets it up once more -- and misses it again.

Buddy comes over, puts a “reassuring” hand on Richie’s shoulder and says “Forget about it Richie -- that shot’s impossible!” and walks away.

earl played well enough to win, showed the class that the event deserved and said very nice things about ginky...nuff said

Congrats' to Earl...again !!!

A two-peat ! After winning the "Ginki" tournament, this last weekend
he won the "Empire" tournament in N.Y. !!! ....he's back !!!

LET'S GO EARL!! YOUR BIGGEST FAN HERE!!! Who woulda forget that famous "Earl against Fu" match back in 2004?

And congrats to Warren Kiamco for dogging a straight in shot! Out of all the pinoys he's about the only one I don't like. Back in 2005 when he came to our group and spoke with Shawn, as he passed me I said "what's up Warren," that son of a gun looked at me for a second and didn't say a thing! Man... If we were outside I woulda physically harmed him! Anybody that know me know that I never gave a fcuk back then! I got witnesses for that man! Hundreds of them!

That's it, Kiamco and Robb Saez are the only two who I never want to see win a tournament! And I know Saez is here in this forum and Kiamco's English is good enough to come here too. Keep on dogging!!!!

Just wanna make sure both of them get to see this. And BTW, my witnesses were not only hundreds, actually thousands. And why don't those two cowards actually step up and debate with me? They're not even close to strong pros in my opinion! What they scared?? Even in a FORUM??!!?

Nobody wants to debate with a moron.

Congrats to Earl

I am going to present my theory on Earls recent success. NY is a great place for Earl to live, it gives him a sense of normalcy in his own life. New Yorkers are pretty aggro in their daily lives. Earl has lost a lot of matches in recent years by getting inside his own mind, thinking he is crazy, going off on rants and tangents...ect. Now that he lives in a place where this is all just a place that this stuff is a part of daily life it may in some way kind of help him regain control of himself because he does not have to be afraid that he is mentally unstable, it will help him regain confidence. He still has the ability, just had to get over his own mind! Big things may be yet to come from Earl again, only time will tell!
