Congrats to our Own OMGWTF 2nd Place US Amateur

pic

And I'm a 4 in the MO-8 League... as far as their records are concerned - since I haven't played with them in 2 years. But the entire league would hate it if I came back. League ratings, sorry to say, don't mean a thing. Especially when you're posting about running racks in another thread. ;)

I haven't seen either OMGWTF or Rhea play in a couple of years, but I think they should play even.

Anyway, back on track - I, too, was curious where Melinda's pic was on the APA site. :(

Congrats!!!

The reason it wasn't on there is because she refused to take a pic after she lost. Lol

I was wondering why omgwtf didn't get her picture taken after her match along with the other ladies that finished in the top 3. Did she bring the 2nd place trophy or "door stop" as she called it that evening back with her. Just wondering. Great job

Some people don't have high regards for trophys. Example: (Niki Lauda famously gave away any trophies he won to his local garage in exchange for his car to be washed and serviced). He didn't want to be awed by the trappings of success.

It would have taken up too much room on the Greyhound Bus and her tiny apt.

poor sport

"Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser." Vince Lombardi

OMGWTF practices to win, plays to win and is satisfied by a victory.

no it's poor sportsmanship and not showing any class. She wasn't a loser at all, she had a great tournament but came up short in the final match. Unfortunately a lot of players have the same attitude when they lose a game, match or tournament. I was there and saw how she finished it up.

But that same attitude could be one of the reasons a player achieves greatness. Like it or not, some players do not accept losing well. And yes, she is one of them.

JMO after watching her matches. no career in pool i'm afraid, hope she has something else to fall back on. It wasn't greatness just classless. As our idiot president says, PERIOD!!!

Well, your reply is classless, JMO.

Maybe next time, she should instead smile for the camara and accept the trophy only to toss it in the nearest trash can. Then you might be satisfied and have more class as well.

great idea

No, wouldn't be satisfied with another classless act. and it's camera, lol

Yes I am sure you are correct . Jmo poor sport.

At a minimum, it's disrespectful to the people and organizations who promote, sponsor, and conduct the event. Accept the award, smile for the camera, then if you need to go somewhere and privately flog yourself, feel free.

I thought that this thread was "Congrats to our own OMGWTF...."

What did you bring to it ... "Congrats?"

The APA will prosper despite her exit.

She obviously didn't care about it so why congratulate her. Another poor sport , big surprise. The truth hurts sometimes

One thing I admire about OMGWTF is that she doesn't give a shit about the expectations other people lay on her.

She's unsatisfied with 2nd place. I get that.

She doesn't want to pose for a picture. I totally get that.

Some people think she's a poor sport and "classless." Well, they're the ones coming onto a congratulatory thread to insult her. Seems like that's the definition of classless right there. What else do you do? Go to graduation parties and tell the grad that the college he's going to sucks?
