Title says it all. Tina just captured her first SBE Championship. This is I believe the first time she played the Women’s Open. This was a big bucket item on her list, so I’m very happy for her and her accomplishment. Congrats to Ashley Benoit for her Runner-Up finish.

Both struggled to get the table down, and Ashley roared to a 4-1 lead by playing good safeties plus getting some fortunate accidental safes. Tina did the grinding thing and squeaked the first set 5-4. After that, Tina got the speed down, and had I believe four full-rack runouts getting an easy 5-1 second set for the Championship.

The background is that she had an eye issue and suddenly was having trouble seeing, so grinding out the first set was figuring out how to even compete without seeing the object ball fully. She figured it out as she really played flawlessly the second set.

Wow! That is strong in a field of lady champions. Good for her.

Congratulations to Tina aka known here as Girlwon1. I guess she needs to change her handle to Girlwinsbig1 now!

Congrats to Tina!!! I can remember when she first came into On Cue and couldn't make a ball to save her life but she loved the game. I stop playing for 19 years and I come back and she is a Champion. Awesome

And Tina is a DC girl now.

Women’s Amateur Open, in case there’s confusion. Kelly Fisher won the WPBA 9-ball event, beating Jennifer Barretta in the finals.

Chris Bruner (AZBer) won the SBE Amateur Open. Jayson Shaw beat Darren in the Men’s Pro 9-ball event.
Yes, I have been aware for sometime that Tina now lives in Maryland. I actually follow the Maryland tournaments on Facebook and know a little about what's happening in the pool world in my neck of the woods, which is Washington, D.C.

Yes, Tina won the lady's amateur event, filled with strong female pool players. Kelly Fisher won the pro event, the one Kristina Tkach was not allowed to compete in. Jayson won the pro event. Thank you for sharing the updates. I was reading all about them on Facebook. I seem to find more information on FB than this forum, but I appreciate your kind reply.

Not too shabby, but I always thought she had the game to beat almost anyone. It was more a matter of confidence than anything else that made her a winner. It's about time!

She got married and had a beautiful baby girl, all on top of going back to college. Busy woman.
Sounds just like our daughter.. Toss in she bought her first home before getting married and having a daughter as well..

Some girls just seem to get it and I am thrilled that Tina is one of them. God blessed them for all their extraordinary efforts and those lucky guys they chose to marry!

Why was Kristina not allowed to play? Fedor played in the open even so it can't be a Russian embargo thing.

The girl that came in second is local to me, Ashley, pretty serious player, she hit 550ish Fargo not too long ago.

It might be because the women's pro event, SUBJECT TO CHECK, READERS OF THE THREAD, was a WPBA-sanctioned event.

This is what she wrote on Facebook.

She's 550 and took second in a WPBA event?!?! Holy cow!
