How strong was this performance? Charlie won the Jacksonville tournament with victories over Dennis Orcullo, Mike Davis, Tony Crosby, Shane Van Boening, and Johnny Archer. All while directing the tournament, and suffering some very needless hassles from the juvenile Corey Deuel.

While playing pool does not seem to be Charlie's primary focus nowadays, this will hopefully put to rest any and all questions regarding his skill level. That was a very strong tournament performance. Congratulations Charlie.

Well sure, if you hold the tournament, run the tournament, collect the money, select the 'byes', select your opponents, select the times, forfeit opponents, disqualify opponents, invite who you like and call it Dragon Promotions when you ARE The Dragon, you're expected to do well.

His 16 year old adopted German son didn't do too badly either..... imo

eehhhh.... did you read who he beat to win????? "Dennis Orcullo, Mike Davis, Tony Crosby, Shane Van Boening, and Johnny Archer."

If anything, running the tournament is a HUGE disadvantage. When your playing, you only have to focus on playing. I say, beating that list is more than just another day at the office.

Ya id like to know how beating Dennis, Archer, and SVB makes your tournament win any easier?. If he did try to rig it he did a very bad job in my opinion LOL. Very well deserved win Charlie good job!

I agree with congratulating him on a champion's performance....
Obviously, he is not a popular guy....but just like I may not like the way Earl acts up sometimes, you cannot deny the man has talent.......Well Done, Mr. Williams!

good win, but he still got bopped by Corey, lol. 2 years from now I'm not gonna remember that Charlie won this tourney but I'll still needle Corey about his right hook to the dragon.

"Just knock it on Roy!

Just a Q - does CW's tournament software place the first bye at slot 2?

Another Q - does anyone see what's wrong with that with anyone's software tournament that does that?

Honestly I don't think any of this bs about him rigging anything matters. To beat the players he did takes great skill, knowledge, and extremely good playing. All of the other players had the same equal chance to win the tournament as he did. Infact they even have a better chance because in my opinion some of those players like Archer, SVB, Dennis play 1 more level higher than Charlie does(no disrespect to charlie's game).

CW was the TD? I thought that this Dragon Promotion tournament had Martin Remlinger as the TD. CW was maybe a promoter, but not the TD.

Some one please correct me if I am wrong. The Dragon Promotion management page lists these people as its staff

President & CEO Cindy Lee
Founder Charlie Williams
General Manager Myung Jin Kim
Director of PR & Marketing Na Young Kim
Executive Director Eva Dakay
Director of Marketing Dennis Ha
Sales Manager Song Moon Yoon
Public Relations James West
Event Manager USA Justin Acker
Senior Event Manager Sally Lee
Tournament Director & Coordinator USA Martin Rimlinger
Tournament Director & MC USA Scott Smith

Head Referee & Event Staff Ji Hoon Kim
Head Referee & Event Staff Young Seok Lee
Event Staff Michael Peters
Event Staff Patricia Zimmerman

Tom,
The thread on the CW/Deuel altercation listed Charlie as the tournament director; I was not there. Why on earth would Corey Deuel blame him otherwise. If CW was not the director then Corey looks even more foolish and deranged (if that is really possible for a man his age).

I can't speak for CW's method, but I don't see what the big deal is with where the first bye slot is. It's got to go SOMEWHERE.

Other bye schedules I've seen start it off at the bottom - i.e. with a 16-man board, 16-8-12-4-14-6-10-2.

Where the first bye slot goes is immaterial, as long as the draw is done in a proper, random fashion. Now, if someone is jacking things to give certain people (one or more) byes, then again, the position of the bye slots is immaterial - shenanigans are shenanigans.

Man, Didn't Anyone Know I Was Joking ????

Age has nothing to do with being foolish & deranged and I'm living proof of that.

(old enough to be Corey's grandfather)

Btw, I was only poking Charlie with a stick. Congratulations to him for beating those top notch opponents.

Yes I have to say he kicked my BUTT pritty gooooood.

Charlie won the tourney fair and square. there were 16 seeded players that all received byes. scott smith was the tournament director

Charlie played great and had his break working big time, its really ridiculous to insinuate that him putting on a tourney somehow helped him win.

Why cant people ever just say good shooting and give their respect to people that deserve it
