Congratulations to Charlie Williams - very nice effort

ignorance is bliss

I can't believe people haven't figured out what goes on behind the tournament scene. Ah what bliss!

You're obviously insinuating something here - what is it? Are you suggesting that CW didn't deserve this win somehow? I guess TC, Orcullo, SVB, Davis, and Archer all played dead so Charlie could claim a victory, right?

Charlie won the tourney fair and square. there were 16 seeded players that all received byes. scott smith was the tournament director

Charlie played great and had his break working big time, its really ridiculous to insinuate that him putting on a tourney somehow helped him win.

Why cant people ever just say good shooting and give their respect to people that deserve it

I agree... I am sure everyone played to win and did their best. CW was that guy... this time. Good job in a tough field.

everyone there that watched CW play can tell you the kid was on FIRE !
he was playing lightning speed and i never saw a player playing with that much feel and confidence.

I was next to Jim Lucas, the owner of Lucasi, and he was saying out loud. "I never knew Charlie had a game like that. Very impressive."

CW was running over champions there like Orcollo, Davis, Crosby, like they werent even there it seemed. The Van bOening match was awesome, but when CW got to the finals, he just robbed Archer! how often do u see that happen?

Nice win and GREAT performance by the Dragon!!!

Well done!!! (Please don't start to just focus on playing pool after this win, keep up the good work with running and promoting them too)

How strong was this performance? Charlie won the Jacksonville tournament with victories over Dennis Orcullo, Mike Davis, Tony Crosby, Shane Van Boening, and Johnny Archer. All while directing the tournament, and suffering some very needless hassles from the juvenile Corey Deuel.

While playing pool does not seem to be Charlie's primary focus nowadays, this will hopefully put to rest any and all questions regarding his skill level. That was a very strong tournament performance. Congratulations Charlie.

It was obviously a fine showing from Charlie and btw, Kudos to you for standing up for the unpopular CW.

I remember when a friend of mine(or was it me?) who got on a bus and rode across country to the US Open for my first attempt at tournament competition. When it got down to the last two tables, I was still in it. I played on this one table(a table I broke good on) and had the guy stuck 10-0 winning 11-1. They had me scheduled on the board to play on that table (twice) and made it to where I wasn’t allowed to play on it again and seriously delaying my starting times to boot because of it. So, I played on the other table and managed to win twice but when it came time(as the schedule said) to play on the other table I was breaking good on, it never happened. I came in 5th. Never played in another US Open because of it. Played in another tournament(rode 1000+ miles to it in Reno) and read the board over and over to make sure my starting time was correct for the next day after winning my first match , even writing it down on a piece of paper. Well, don’t you know what happened there? TD (yours truly)calls the next day saying my match was starting(4 hrs early) and I had 5 min. to get to it. Had trouble finding my f$%#ing glasses, ran water over my face, threw on my clothes and he disqualified me for being 1 min. late. Never played in another one. Have seen others show up way late and no problemo. So, when I say there are behind the scenes moves you best believe it(or not).

Well sure, if you hold the tournament, run the tournament, collect the money, select the 'byes', select your opponents, select the times, forfeit opponents, disqualify opponents, invite who you like and call it Dragon Promotions when you ARE The Dragon, you're expected to do well.

His 16 year old adopted German son didn't do too badly either..... imo

(at least JoeyA. got his deep payouts that he's always clamoring about) :)

*Clamoring; a loud persistant outcry, mostly used by calcutta participants.

Lol, maybe Corey was the only player who could've beat Charlie that week. Charlie new he had to get CD out of the tourney. That would explain the forfeit (and the right cross) :D

Say what you want about Charlie, but he has been a good player for a long, long time. This isn't his first major tourney win. He won the BCA Open when all the top guns were in it.

He and Mike Zuglan are the best I've ever seen at working and playing in tournaments. It ain't easy to do! It's kind of like working behind the counter at a poolroom and playing a money game at the same time. I damn sure couldn't do it.

very nice effort? Sounds too much like he came up short. The guy snapped it off and beat a bunch of champs. I never had much respect for Charlies game until last time in Vegas when Alex drew Charlie and I mentioned to Alex that it looked like he had a good draw, and he said "Yeah right!" and then was quickly beaten by him. I then found out that Alex had lost to Charlie the last 3 or so times they've played. Strong. Congrats Charlie.

//Will no longer doubt the skillz.

can't I have alittle peril?

Why don't you enlighten us then???

It's called "giving the ducks a good show for the money". The sponsored players go back and forth, back and forth. A favor here and a favor there... here a favor, there a favor and the ducks will know no better.
My prediction.. .Allen Hopkins will do real good in his tournaments .

I'm getting to be like Scoot Lee...I can't speak without an emoticon
