Congratulations to Mike Dechaine for going undefeated and winning the 2025 Smokey Mountain Shootout.

Somewbody sent me a program page of the previous winners. It seems like this might have been the first one since 2019. Of course, COVID hit in 2020.

Lots of familiar names on this list. Gee, look at who won in 1994. :)

Mike Painter in 1999….there’s a blast from the past. Great player.

I hope he continues to enter more high level tournaments. He isn't that old- should be able to return to his top form.

On a side note, Stevie Moore won that tournament 5 times- good work! I wonder if he still plays at all.

Forgive me, but is there something notable about this win..? Was the field strong..? I'm unfamiliar with the event and nearly all the previous winners listed.

I almost won an argument with my wife last night and wondering if I should start a celebratory thread myself.
Absolutely start a celebratory thread about almost winning an argument with your wife, it gives men the world over hope that just one time in our lives that we have a shot (almost) at being correct (mostly anyways).

Some guy named Stevie Moore won it 5 times over the course of close to 20 years. I see Mike Gulyassy won it a few times too. Larry Nevel, 3 years in a row. The Earthquake, Keith McCready. So many great names on there.

I wonder, has this tournament always been held at the same place? I wonder where that is.

Very cool post.

Congrats to Mike Dechaine. Great player.

Stevie Moore just opened a brand-new pool room in beginning of this month Spartanburg, South Carolina. 3059 Howard St, Spartanburg, SC 29303-2060, United States. I cannot find the name of it. When I do, I'll post it up.
He's just getting started but has weekly tournaments and is actually competing locally again.

Here is what he wrote on Facebook:
Hello everyone

It’s been awhile but am still around. Just wanted to let you know that I have been fortunate enough to be able to offer something new to the upstate. Couple weeks ago a building with 5 pool tables was laid at my feet. I have been cleaning and rearranging things to accommodate what I have in mind. My goal is to improve the pool community to the best of my ability. My ideas are open and changeable. I am not able sell alcohol at the current time but am looking into it (Beer only). There is a full kitchen in which wings, fries, hot dogs, chicken salad sandwich, tossed salads with tomatoes cucumbers and chesse will be sold at this time and as buisness grows so will the menu.

Tonight we will be doing a single elimination handicap nine ball with a rebuy. 20$ entry fee 7pm played on four 9ft olhausen tables.
Monday is a modified BCA format. We play one game short rack eight ball and one game seven ball. If the games are split we do the predator spot shot shoot out. Last Monday was our first one and everyone that played seemed to really enjoy it. Was short and sweet with some excitement in the shootouts. Start time is also 7pm with break and run.

Also, looking to start pool clinics where as I can work with 4-6 people at a time. 2 hours of information and drills for 30$ a player. Pm me for more details and to set up your teams clinic.

Look forward to getting back out here and being a part of something I’ve loved my whole life and sharing and growing together the game we all love.

3059 Howard street Spartanburg. Park in the front parking lot walk to right side of building to open door. Open Monday-Saturday 4pm-10-11pm

Hope to see you soon!

Stevie Moore is a great player Big in the S.E parts

I got in to a heated argument with my wife over money. I thought I was a lock to win, but in the closing minutes of the argument I paused for too long and dogged it. Maybe next time.

I was there, what a great event. That young man in the picture can play too!

And to those wondering about the field, I would say it was pretty strong.
