Cool Experience Because of AZB

I wanted to make mention of a meeting I had with a fellow AZer named Steve, screen name of SDE. Apparently Steve makes monthly deliveries to the little town of Fremont, Indiana and on one of these occasions noticed the sign in front of my store, KJ Cues. Wondering to himself if that's the same KJ that posts on AZ he decided to drop me a PM. After a few short exchanges we agreed on a time when he would be in town and we met each other yesterday. I asked him in advance if he would bring his cue because in my store I have about the nicest bar-box in the county and maybe we could play a bit. He agreed and I want to say that I had a most enjoyable afternoon. Hopefully he enjoyed himself as much as I did.

We played some 8, we played some 9, we talked about AZ, the Derby and pool in general. Steve is a very nice fellow and I wish he could have spent more time but he had a long drive ahead of him getting back to Grand Rapids so we had to wrap it up early. Hopefully we can meet-up again.

I'd like to thank AZ for providing us this great forum were members can have the opportunity to actually meet each other and I'd also like to extend an invitation to other AZers to feel free to contact me if you're going to be in the area. This has been a very cool experience for me and I think it would be just great if I could meet more of you. KJ
 
I like that story. That is what makes AzBilliards special. I have met many good pool folk from this forum. Thanks for sharing! :)

I had TWO experiences with meeting people who knew me from the AZ, one who posted about my game/speed. And another who has been posting a lot recently, Ant812, who knew me from my screen name at a tournament we both participated in.

Furthermore, if you want to meet a whole lot of AZers at one time, just show up at one of Scott Lee's "Pool Schools".

It was funny to have nearly the entire group of people introduce themselves by their real and then AZ screen names!

I have had the pleasure of meeting so many nice people, who post here...whether it be in pool school, private lessons, or just meeting to knock some balls around. Perhaps I've met more than most, simply because I travel the whole country teaching. I know a lot of people meet each other at tournaments like the DCC and BCA Nationals. We'll be giving free pool lessons to anyone that wants them, Monday-Friday (5/12-5/16), from 11a-5pm each day. Look for us in the BCA room, across the hall from the rear big tournament room.

Want a great afternoon it was to meet a fellow AZer, make a new friend and to play and talk pool. I am glad that I had the opportunity to make the arrangements to reschedule my day and take a little time off.

KJ, you were a very gracious host and I am looking forward to doing it again in the future. I was not having my best day as far as playing and it was very nice of you to let me win a few games. :D :) Before we do it again I AM going to practice on a table that plays as fast as yours.

To anyone in the area or passing through should take KJ up on his offer. He has a very comfortable room with plenty of space, good music playing at a pleasing level, IMO, ample seating and a very nice Valley 7' with Simonis 860.

KJ thanks again for the good time and I'll be staying in touch about next time.

The drive home wasn't too bad, only 1 hour and 49 minutes, 6 minutes less than projected.
 
I met a couple of nice people at the SBE from AZB. I wore a tag that said azbilliards kaznj. People kept asking me if I worked for AZB. This is a great place to meet people with like interests.
 
While we're on the topic, I just met up with 8-ball Rat at Q-Masters last Wednesday and had a good time. He came down from D.C. for work and wanted to check out Q-Masters. I'm pretty sure he fell in love with the place. He still hates diamonds I bet, but we enjoyed the atmosphere and rattling well-hit shots :p

I also got to show him my crazy super draw bank shot that baffles the mind. Well... my mind anyway ;)
 
i've met some cool people here on az. deadon, socal rick, and scott lee. just about everyone i meet seems like good people.


last time i met people that i met online it was from bro finder.com (a warning they're not just looking for friends)

ha that last part was a joke
 
I have made and meet quite a few good friends\people on this forum. Several of them I have met in person or helped out in 1 of many ways, even I have picked up some new things a or had reassurances that I was doing things right since before it was just an educated guess or a SWAG..

Socalrick introduced himself to me at On Cue last week. He was very nice and I've ran into him 3 times since then, lol. I also met another fellow azer this past weekend that was an absolute blast:D ! Whiskey girl?!? :D :)

Once upon a time, I viewed discussion boards such as AZB as places where information was traded, but the idea of a "community" was foreign to me.

Took several years to understand how cyber friends can become the real deal. I'm active only on a couple forums -- one for pool (this one) -- and one for fishing.

My gameroom is open 24/7 to all AZBers, the beer is free and the companionship you'll have to judge for yourself. PM first, please.

I'm in Golden, Colorado, across from a trout stream, which occupies most of my attention.

Trout stream?? ahhh, my bamboo fly rods haven't come out of the tubes in twenty years. I fly fished the streams of wyoming as a yonker, God I miss those days.... I'm jealous Paul................:p :cool:
