Bar box 8 harder than 8 ball on 9 footer. Every other game hater on big table imo
I pay attention. On another thread someone said you play well, but it still doesn't make you right. Congestion is certainly a huge factor. Nobody will ever run 300 on a bar table. Why?
... Nobody will ever run 300 on a bar table. Why?
The only two times I saw John Schmidt practice straight pool on a bar table (at the BCA Expo) he ran 180 within three tries each time. I would not bet against 300 within a week.... Congestion is certainly a huge factor. Nobody will ever run 300 on a bar table. Why?
I don't agree with this statement at all. Personally, I find 8-ball harder on the box and I can get out sometimes. For example, I was recently out of town for a week and split 1st place in a 9ft table tournament with Shane Mcminn, and beat John Gabriel on my way to the hot seat before that. I'm not great and I did get lucky to get by John, but I can get out a little on the 9 footer.
In the same breath, I'm a horrible straight pool player and unlike most people nowadays, I started out on 9 and 10 footers. I didn't start playing on the box until later and I only do so now when I have to. I actually learned to play 9 and 8-ball on a 10 ft snooker table. I definitely feel more confident playing any game on a bigger table.
I can see how even a decent straight pool player would say it's easier though, simply due to the skills required to put up good runs in 14.1
I dunno. For sure though, I wouldn't just jump out there and say that the people who disagree with you are just bad players who can't run out.
"For most pro players it is more difficult to BNR eight ball on a bar table" - SVB
Let me guess... you play on a BB. Simply put nice idea but the traffic argument doesn't play. Simple shape on a table that is easier to make balls on equals easier game. Period.
Nick you obviously ASSUME you knew who Frank is, but in his day, the 9 footer....he was very comfortable on, and could handle most all top pros with the wild 8/roll out 9 ball. I did something two weeks ago I've never done, and I think it was a little luck, but waaaaaaaay more difficult. I played 6....8 ball matches/alternate break on diamond bar tables races to 4. With the alternate break I LUCKILYwon 24 straight games='s 6 matches 4-0. Alternate break, that's not easy. Then I ran outta steam from the losers side in the finals. Got 2nd again, buy hey, I'm finally getting things figured out, as Frank knows all to well I can do. I almost thought it was age, but after two years of this and that I figured out, with the 15 year layoff what was needed to fix things.
A 9 pack, take what ya make, is pretty sporty.
I felt winning 24-0 in 6 matches, with me only breaking 12 times BCA rules was impossible.
It was a 4-12 rated tournament, race to your rating. They put me in as an 8. You can conclude whatever you like, but the only way to get the hot seat in a format like that is by running out. Ergo, your statement is false. That was my only point. I wasn't trying to say anything about how well I do or don't play.
