OK guys lets see some real stuff I possess the following cortland #12 full spool 400 yards with original box certificate and everything unused, bought this a while back, just for your information not for sale though

I believe an azer just sold this #9 also full spool 500 yards no long ago, I hope these information helps for those who are still looking for the genuine cortland linen:)

I am not in the market as Bavafongoul is, as I have a little stash. But just curious what color yours is? Can't tell from the pic what single line color is in there with the white? Is it the black? If so, Bavafongoul is gonna hit the roof I suppose.

Pretty sure that is the needle in the haystack. Nice pick up,
glad I am not the one looking for it because I would be pretty
damn jealous right now! Isn't everything for sale at the right
price?!:D

Ouch.........I didn't realize my ceiling was that low.......it hurt banging my head.
You called that one right flyvirginiaguy......OMG.......it's killing me more than you realize......Wow!

MATTY.....you & Joe Pechauer seem to have some serious Cortland #12 and Joe has committed his
supply to his 50th Anniversary Cue series and yours is.........well, yours.....nuf sed 'bout that. If you
ever have a weak moment, I pray you think of me....."Please"......but right now the calendar is my nemesis.

As everyone can see, there's a true difference with #9 and the #12 just looks better when the cue has a
ebony butt sleeve, ivory/ebony Bushka collars and ebony points. Don't get me wrong though because
a green speck Cortland is better than "no" Cortland at all. Apparently there is some Cortland Linen #12
out there. I spoke with my cue-maker today and I have about 6 weeks left to find some #12.

After viewing how great the Cortland Linen #12 looked in MATT's photo, I can't relinquish my search now.
This is a really special cue design so I really hope you'll indulge my 48 hrs. thread bumps for a little longer.

Thanks,

Matt B.

Rigmaster.....I've never tried an elephant ear wrap.......only smooth leather, lizard, and Spanish bull. Obviously, none of those impressed
me as much as Cortland Linen did, and still does. Nonetheless, I've only heard great things about elephant ear wraps and many of the top
end collectible cues costing several thousands of dollars use it pretty regularly, or so it seems to me.

Thanks for the encouragement about using the Cortland Linen #9 for my cue. After speaking with my cue-maker today, I am excited about
the remainder of my cue's design, especially the butt sleeve that promises to better than I imagined after we tweaked the ivory inlays today.
Have you taken a peak of my cue in progress photos in the Cue Gallery? The forearm BEM will have a dark brown stain that should change
the visual impression of the veneer colors; this cue certainly promises to be different than most.

I want to know why this thread hasn't been flagged or deleted for over bumping? It's a slap in the face to every other poster in this thread!

What's the difference between #9 vs #12 or #24....

Strand count. Most cuttyhunk was rated at 3# per.. so most 18's are 54#, 12 is 36# and 6 is 18#.

So they differ in diameters. 18 strand and larger end up very rough and are not suitable for wrap material. Plus the wrap cut needs to be very deep.

Well it looks creamy to me actually I haven't taken it out ever since I purchased this year ago, I have a digital controlled room to store these collectable items and all of my cues

Thanks man it took me a while to hunt this down so I might keep it as a part of my collection, I am actually looking for another spool or 50 yards to wrap one of my cue, I would prefer to keep my #12 intact

Good luck hunting man, I hope this info may help you to identify the genuine ones, before I acquired this spool I have received plenty of offers but most of them are without tags, I wouldn't say they are fake just that I feel more comfortable with the one that comes with letter and everything, well I guess me the same I am also in the market for another spool but it's all about the luck

Thanks MATTY.....you know it is what it is.....nothing more and nothing less.

I look at it this way........either I find some more or I don't.......nothing more I
can do aside from search around and ask for help. I either get lucky or I don't
but my fall back plan isn't too bad.....#9 is nice. It just won't look as nice but
my cue isn't even finished yet.

What if my design lays a egg and is an ugly duckling.....the wrap isn't going to
salvage the appearance. So I'll keep asking and have my fingers crossed but
Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da......it either happens or it doesn't.......still been a fun thread.

My cue is coming along faster than I anticipated and so I need to score some
Cortland Linen #12 (white with black speck) this month. I'll pay top dollar price
for a 50 yards spool if that's of any consequence to any owners of Cortland #12.

This wrap is just ideal for my cue and realistically, how often will you be able to
actually design a pool cue and have it built to your design/specs. For me, this is
my 2nd time and hopefully it will be my last attempt as well. So finding some #12
Cortland Linen has a little added significance for me which is understandable.

After photos of my cue are posted, AZers will have a better appreciation why the
Cortland Linen #12 wrap is so important.......my pool cue's butt sleeve is going to
rock and the #12 is truly ideally suited for the design I came up with.

Don't mean to hijack your thread. But I dunno what type of linen is used in the way that maybe other brands come close enough. I have seen "Korda" braided lines around and they're silky smooth.. But maybe someone can tell you if they're close to cortland.
