+1 lol...

Likely hood of another Hustler/Color of money movie happening is slim, and would probably be a cheap remake of the original trying to stick closer to the novel, ultimately missing the mark like the remake of Gone in 60 seconds, Superman, and any 60, 70, and 80's teenage horror thrasher flick of recent date. As much on screen talent I think Tom Cruise has (see tropic thunder) I'd be damned if he and Scorsese team up again for another CoM and he (cruise) pull an academy award out the deal.

Sickening.

9-Ball the movie .. they are trying .. :D

Just can't wait to see what the finally picture is going to be like.

I think the Life and Times of Willie or Fats would make a good movie. Making a good Pool movie is like making a good boxing movie or any other sport movie. Hollywood has not profected the action scenes in sport movies as of yet. To make the scenes look right...they have to use the real athletes...and they can't act. It's a real dilemma.

You guys keep praying, I am here in the effin' desert doing the rain dance while we wait. :embarrassed2:

I love the idea of a new movie, it just amazes me that h-wood ignores pool completely.

I would be especially happy if Tom Cruise wasn't in it. Now that he is a Scientology guy I doubt he would do it anyways, I dont know much about it other than they have some huge buildings on hollywood Bl. and he gives them monster $$$. But i'm sure they frown on pool, yet gladly take the royalties from the COM. Funny how that works.

Perhaps we will get a movie in the next 5 years. The production cost wouldnt be huge like some movies are. They are missing out on $$$, im even more suprised there hasnt been any more poker movies.

If it were to make money, he and Hollywood would do it. They are all for sale!

When Rossaroni suggested a real life player I immediately thought of Kid D. ‘Running the Table’ was an entertaining read and the story has it all including a charismatic but flawed main character going out on the road encountering liquor, guns, and money. What more do they want? Of course, if it’s Disney, they may add a mermaid.

Much as I hate to say it, another pool movie will never happen. ESPN rarely shows any pool tournaments. Today, pool is not hip and not selling either. It's a shame. The only pool scenes on TV or in the movies are the hero walks into a pool room filled with smoke and low-brow criminal pool players (are there any other types?) and then proceeds to smite them all with mighty blows.

I've heard rumors that there is talk of doing a movie of Danny DiLibertos life. That would really make a great movie!

It's very simple. If you want a pool movie to be as successful as COM or The Hustler, you'll have to recruit the right actors. Paul Neuman and Tom Cruise from their respective times would be something like Justin Timberlake of today. If you can get an actor with that kind of draw, the movie could be about french fries and it will do well.

Agreed...but french fries are delicious.

How many of you plan to see this?

3 Minute Gaps movie to premiere at Northstar-at-Tahoe
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMUfvNqKQdw&feature=player_embedded
The Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort and Giant Bicycles have come together with the Ride Giant / Ride Northstar mountain bike sponsorship program to host the movie premiere of 3 Minute Gaps on Saturday, June 18. The event will kick off the summer season with the opening of the Northstar Resort bike park, the largest lift-served bike park in Northern California.

3 Minute Gaps follows the world's best competitive downhill mountain bike athletes around the world as they trained, traveled, raced, celebrated and made sacrifices simply for the ambition of being the fastest rider on the World Cup tour.

3 Minute Gaps includes racers such as Gee Atherton, Sam Hill, Aaron Gwin, Sam Blenkinsop, Brendan Fairclough, Greg Minnaar, Andrew Neethling, Danny Hart, Matti Lehikoinen, Ben Reid, and Josh Bryceland.

Renowned director Clay Porter and filmmaker John Lawson traveled around the globe to capture the athletes' stories of triumph and struggle in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA, and every round of the 2009 and 2010 World Cup Series and the world championships.

Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort’s kick off to summer celebration with the 3 Minute Gaps movie premiere will include extending the mountain bike park hours of operation until 6:00 p.m. on June 18th. The summer celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Lodge at Big Springs deck at mid-mountain featuring a BBQ, music by local talent and an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for prizes.

The movie premiere will offer free admission and include a free gondola ride up to the mid-mountain Lodge at Big Springs for those who are not riding the park that day. For US$10 per person, the BBQ will feature a burger with a side, and a choice of a beer or other beverage. Proceeds from the BBQ and raffle prizes will benefit the Ride Giant / Ride Northstar mountain bike programs.

They've been at that for a couple of years now. I wonder if it will ever be picked up in theaters "if" it's ever completed? I look for a straight to DVD or a very quickly after premier, release to DVD.

I agree that it would be tough to draw the crowds in, but with the right cast and experts behind the scene, it could be great.

I don't care for Tom Cruise's personal beliefs, but he is still a heck of an actor and major draw. I just mentioned TCOM as a carry-on of the legacy.

As I said, seems like Robin Bell Dodson as an expert and Drake as an up and comer would be a nice set. She has been around the scene on all levels, and Drake is a new star on the rise.

I'm just sayin.....

I've written a book,"Right On Cue," I personally think would make a great movie. That's what I had in mind when I wrote it.

It's fiction but it is also the first story to include both men and women pool players as featured characters. If we could get more women playing the game benefit tremendously. More women playing would also bring more young men into rooms.

The problem I've had is getting people to buy my book. I self published and getting the word out is difficult. So far about a 1000 copies in two years. I know the economy is bad but I also know pool players don't spend their money on books. At least the ones I've come across tell me they don't like to read.

A small investment in my book, right now, $9.99 on Amazon, $4.99 on Kindle could make a huge difference in the future of the game. Film makers look at NUMBERS. If my book or any other pool story was doing well enough, I'm sure they would take notice and CAPITALIZE on it.

It would be nice to see Jenifer Garner step into a shot with proper mechanics. Gabrielle union...meow.

Hey Tom, I'm going to buy your book to help put another Freddy Prince Junior pool movie on the market. Haha! J/k I'll check it out.

No offense to any pool players but if you want to have a movie with a wide impact (i.e. appealing to the masses), it's going to have to have recognized professional actors and actresses (not people in their first staring role). Let the pool players advise and do cameos but leave the acting to the Major Stars of the movie world. Of course you can put non actors or 1st time lead actors in a movie and it "might" become a sensation world wide. I could also win the lottery jackpot. :)

TCOM and especially "The Hustler" weren't successful because they were about pool. Pool was just the medium for presenting a movie about life. You've got to start out with a good plot and a good story line. Pool by itself just isn't enough to draw a big audience and make it worth the movie industry's time and effort.
