I think Joey did a great job. Exactly how it should be done in the booth. Keep your analyst partner on point, add items and opine where necessary, don't blather and talk to the chat. However, while I have the utmost respect for Hall of Famer Danny Diliberto I can't say I really enjoy listening to him in the booth these days.
 
On the last day of the event, Mike Howerton gave me the heads-up about this thread. I didn't visit the forums or Facebook while I was working at the Ultimate 10 Ball Championship. There just wasn't time.

The day before the event, I worked with Ray Hansen to help set up the equipment for the broadcast, handing a pair of cutting pliers, holding a cord, emptying the trash and whatever else needed go-fering. The first day started at 9:00 am and ended at 1:00 am the next morning.

Those hours set the pace for the remainder of the week, with the 9:30 pm matches being the toughest on the commentators. All of the commentators, including 78 year-young Danny DiLiberto showed up at 9:00 am every morning and seldom quit before the last match of the evening.

This thread was a very nice surprise. If I thanked each of you in this thread, it may be looked upon as tooting my own horn and I don't wish for that to happen. I will try to write each of you a PM to express my appreciation. I will also try to give back to the forum additional perspectives about some of my experiences at this event later on.

I will say this. I have worked on my commentary and will continue to make efforts to improve it in the future. It is easy to improve your commentary when you are surrounded by so many other talented commentators.

Everyone has their favorite commentators and there are legitimate reasons for that. We all bring different styles to the Live Stream commentary and it is those differences that add to the spice of the broadcast.

The truth is Ray Hansen added another dimension to this Live Stream that has never been here before. Much credit should be directed toward Ray for shifting gears and making this Live Stream one of my favorites of all time. I'll share some details of this in other threads as I have time and propensity to write. In the meantime, I have honey-do's to catch up on. Last night I slept so long and so well, I feel like a new man. :D

What made Billy and Grady so good is they worked together, had different views, both knowledgable, played off each other, etc.

Really

Their viewpoints are often at odds. They are both intelligent and well-spoken. They are both students of the game. I believe they would both be very professional.

I think it would be interestIng. I hope they try it, at least once.

Joey A is one of those players that is just good for the game.
I've gotten to know him personally and I for one know he works as hard at this commentating as he does on his pool game.

And it seems like the more he does it the better he gets.

Looking forward to seeing him in the booth.

One of the special, TALENTED, people in our pool world.........
