So this is what happened to my OB classic shaft. I played with it around 6 months. Dont know what to do. Most likely no warranty. Shame.. I loved it. No offense to anyone, but I think it has a flaw in design. For same reason tip flew off of my ob break shaft.

All OB products carry a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. And they are very easy to work with. Give them a call and see what they say: 877-399-9901.

If you are the original owner it's likely still under warranty in which case you can send it back to them for repair. If you aren't the original owner you can still send it back to them for repair for a nominal fee.

You knew of the design when you bought the shaft, nice picture it looks like the wood cracked instead of a delamination.
If you are the original buyer or what ever you should look up OB warranty policy and see if you think that the shaft meets their policy guild lines for warranty.

No offence but it does look like you kept on playing with the cue after the ferrule was cracked.

Also looks like you like to put allot steam on the cue ball , because the ferrule looks like you have been breaking with it.

Your best bet is to contact OB cues, its there call on if its warranty or not.

How do you repair a cracked wood or a delaminated shaft ?

The shaft is FUBER F_____D up beyond economical repair.

I know what to do, check with OB about the warranty. If you have to pee do you ask what you should do and pee your pants if no-one is around? Some things are pretty obvious. Something breaks, if it's even a maybe that it can be fixed for free, you contact whoever sold it or made it. Unless the goal is to say that OB shafts are not made properly.

I have been practicing a lot middle ball stun shots. No breaking. Also I did not know it is going to happen. Surely it happens because there is no solid core. The force goes sideways especially on more power shot. Hope you guys understand what I mean.

nice picture!

If you are the original owner fairly certain OB will take care of you, probably will anyway.

It is an excellent picture which lends itself to a little failure analysis. It looks like the pad which I thought was pretty much bulletproof failed. That leads me to suspect that it failed first, or the tip then the pad. Either way, the weak area continued to focus load on components never intended to stand up to the battering without the protection of the pad. No surprise the ferrule failed.

Interesting that the wood split rather than delaminating. Pretty strong indication that the glue and glue bond is stronger than the wood itself. This is proof of the soundness of the laminated design, at least in this case.

Unless the tip has been replaced and a standard pad placed under it instead of the OB high strength pad this does seem that it would qualify as a materials failure. If that is the case I won't be surprised if OB stands behind the shaft even if it isn't under warranty. Aside from anything else I would think they would like a look at the shaft.

don't destroy the shaft

Sorry I posted this. Im just gonna throw it in a fire and play with mezz

Give the people at OB a chance. I think Mike is right, no fix to this shaft. However, I think OB would like to know if their pad failed as it appears in the picture. Those pads are a key part of the design according to my understanding. No way for me to tell if that is the original pad or not but if it is then it had no business failing regardless of the shaft's age unless it had been thinned quite a bit which doesn't seem the case just looking at the picture.

Yeah you do that, don't send it in to OB, don't inquire about a warranty.

The absolute shittiness companies have to deal with on an open forum is astounding.

Just once, I'd like to see a post like this with pictures that reflect pride in ownership. None of my cue shafts, ferrules, or tips look like what's shown. Not an indictment of the OP, as it's possible he is extremely conscientious in the use of his equipment and just prefers a filthy shaft

I love to load the ball with juice,
To see it dance and spin.
Sometimes I get 9 rails,
It helps me get a win.

I spin it hard with outside
On every hanging ball
It glides along the rails
To see what else will fall.

Mike Massey once was watching
I could tell he was impressed
My 29 ounce cue and me
Was put to every test.

Whitey every now and then
Will loft into the air
And on a nearby table
It will land with reckless care.

My powerful big stroke
Isn’t welcome at the hall.
I left to many craters,
In the sheetrock on the wall.

I want to join the league
And show the guys my stuff
But the guy in charge of APA
Said I really was too much.

Here's my OB Classic, 2 years old, 25+ hours a week. Same tip too.
