craigslist Balabushka

This thread has almost 5,000 views so obviously people are interested.

The cue listed in this thread IS for sale and the owner came here to talk about it.

While this thread may be over bumped; I think it is due to the rarity and overall excitement generated by this rare cue.

Agreed. This is one special cue...it's more unusual than virtually any Bushka you will ever see in the publications. This cue is easily in the top 5 of the 'unknown' examples that have surfaced, imo. Just it being here and offered up for sale is something that any AZer, especially those who care about cue history, should appreciate getting the opportunity to see. It's that special. Just my opinion of course. :)

I am lucky

You hit it on the head. It's like finding the Holy Grail. When something special comes along you embrace it, not try to make it disappear.
I have been lucky enough to know the original owner and have played with the cue quite a few times. I have not seen him in 10 years, so for me to see the cue again is a nice memory.
There are quite a few Bushkas that I know of, all from the same area this cue is from. I know of at least 10 and one is nicer than the other. All originals bought from George for maybe $200, All in beautiful condition just sitting in the closet. Unfornutaly the owners are now elderly and don't get to the pool hall much.

Mizerak use to refer customers to George and everyone got a nice break. Bushkas were around that area like house cues. Everybody had a Palmer, Paradise or Bushka. Including myself

Hello everyone, I took the cue to Pete Tascarella today and he immediately knew it was authentic. He will be sending me the paperwork next week. He also helped me to remember that my brother played and was good friends with Steve Mizerak (forgive me if I spelled it wrong).

I will be selling the cue but I need to make a decision of where I am going in price. It is from my brother who was the original owner, is 100% authentic, and original. Sorry I started a blog war. I will post a copy of Pete's certification when I receive it. Thanks.

Very good news to you sir. You made the right move with getting it verified. Good luck with the sale. Can you please post some more detailed pictures of this cue. I would love to see good quality pictures of it.

Words cannot express the level of awesomeness surrounding this cue.

That's bad-ass.

Wonder who's gonna snag it????

Every $35K-Ebay Balabushka sale creates a war on AZ Billiards, it wouldn't be the same without it.
The seller typically ends up with an LOA from Pete Tascarella out of the deal, and you handled it nicely.
Everything played out as designed, now for cash segment of this program.

Tom;

While I agree that this thread has been bumped way more than w/fs forum rules allow, you have to agree this bushka is a rare one, indeed, and therefore, perhaps some leniency may be in order.

Added to the uniqueness of the cue was how the seller came to find az and was met with some friendly, sage advice from members interested in helping. I admit to being guilty of enjoying what's being discussed here as I find it to be an opportunity to pick up some much needed knowledge on these rare cues.

And, fwiw, the seller is now a member here and has taken the advice and will have this cue (which was his brothers) authenticated by Pete Tascarella and says he will be taking the next steps to sell it, so I guess it is a cue for sale .

There does not appear to have been any bad intent by the op of this thread in giving a headsup about this cue being listed in craigslist nor does there appear to have been any bad intentions by the seller in coming here to discuss it.

It's a really interesting cue and topic, imo, and I think a little leniency is a good thing.

Hell, never knew what a "bushka wedding ring" was until this morning.

thanks.

best,
brian kc

I agree with you Brian but the thread should have been moved to the proper section of the forum. The problem is the is no consistant moderation. IMO, with rules and laws you either have to follow all of them or none of them. Otherwise it's just left to interpretation and then who knows what happens.

Let me try and put it another way becuase so many of you are having a hard time with it.... If you're in a 9 ball tournament and someone commits the three foul rule, does the ref just look the other way or does he inforce the rule and the offending player lose the game? The offending player loses the game every time. So why is it ok to pick and choose what rules we want to follow and when we want to follow them on this forum? By the way people act here it's like we can pick and choose which rules we want to follow. Like, it's ok to break this rule "just this time" but it's been happening A LOT lately. To me, thats not ok. Either follow ALL of the rules, or just get rid of them (or in this case the 48 hour bump rule) entirely.

I, for one like the 48 hour bump rule but a lot of members here selectively chose to ignore it when it suits them. Not only is that a problem but the fact that there is a lack of moderation doesn't help. So maybe we should just all ignore the rule? Screw it, lets just ignore all the rules!

Pick and choose and ignore rules...isn't that the American way?

Grail

Well this is a grail cue for any Balabushka / Cue Collector. Amazing cue, if you have some time please post some better pictures in the Cue Gallery. I am sure all of us would like to see some of the details around this unique cue.

Thanks for sharing and getting everyone here a little excited.

Santa - if you see this. I would like this cue for Christmas. I promise I have been good.

Regardsless of the reason it's overbumped, it's against the rules. And overly so.

This is complete BS and should be in another forum NOT wanted for sale if you all want to have a discussion.

But as usual, most of you don't give a $hit unless it effects YOU directly.

You're right.

This thread deserves its own STICKY.

I'm sorry

I'm sorry, I should have put more thought into where I was posting this originally. After all of the comments, I think it would have been better for me to have posted this in the main forum, I had no idea it would blow up like this, I just wanted to share an awesome find with anyone who was interested. This thread was not intended to mess up anyone's listings, I list a few items here from time to time and I get upset when things are overly bumped as well.

I guess this is a for sale thread now...does anyone know if the owner is accepting trade offers?

Thank you for your condolences Moonraker. I posted better detail photos on the community photo board for those who asked.

Jakerold,

It sure looks to me like you hold a very special cue, one with many unique elements and a great history. It is highly collectible and you are absolutely on the proper track by taking the cue to Mr. Tascarella for proper documentation and provenance.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your brother Walter. It does appear he gave you sage advice regarding the cue, and I am sure you want to maximize the cue sale at least in part to respect your brother's thoughts regarding his cue.

Coming to AZ Billiards is also a good move by you. You will not find another spot where you can receive great advice regarding how to maneuver through the potentially choppy waters to sell such a wonderful cue having the rich history and rarity.

The cue has great value, even in a down market, so set your sights and "plow forward". I wish you well with the sale of your gem, a truly remarkable survivor cue.

That is a very very unusual Balabushka. With loa it is nearly priceless. I wish Eddie gave it to me.
