I just read all of your posts. It was amazing to hear all of your heartfilled stories about my dad. I was almost laughing the whole time because of the "Beer Sucking Carpet" in vegas. I remember that one. I thank all of you for trying to dig up all of the old memories about my father. It was again touching to me.
 
Good gravy, I was just looking at Chris' posts on CCB and the first one that popped out was in a thread about 14.1 high runs. He listed his high run as 168! I knew he was a player, but I just never noticed him playing much 14.1.
 
my cue

Hey peeps, I thought I might tell all of you more about me. I shoot with one of my two sponsers (Pat Diveney, Mueller) I shoot with a Diveney pool cue that I designed based on my two favorite players (Shane Van Boening, Mark Nelson). Its worth about $3,000. My break cue is a Mezz ZZSP break cue. With a Triangle tip on my Diveney and a Mori on my Mezz. My case is a Jack Justice, the one that my dad used to use. I carry it around with pride. My jump cue is a the Mezz AirShooter. It is a beast. I dont get mad and slam my pool cue on the table. So that upped my game quite a few steps. I learn from "Little" Joe Villapando for my kicks, banks, and cue ball control. He is a very knowledgeable person, and I trust him with my pool game along with a few others named Dwaine Bowman, Adam Behnke, Mark Nelson, Terry Anderson, and Joe Villapando. I dont gamble unless I know I can win. Except for the 10 ball ring games our group plays every saturday. But mostly I am a tournament player. I get dressed up very nice during the bigger tournaments. But otherwise I still look nice.
 
How old are you now Spike? Do you still go by "Spike"? Congratulations on beating Jesse one set.

Stick with Li' Joe. He will NEVER steer you wrong. He is a great mentor for you to follow. Same with the Behnke's. Good people with strong values. Dad would approve. Dad was a man with strong values.

Spike just turned 21 years old and has moved back home after his term in the army.
This kid is now old enough to go in bars...he going to be shooting some livers out'

Amen to that! I put Spike, his dad and his mom through pool school in Des Moines, with Randyg and I when he was just a squirt! J/K buddy! It was, however, just a few months before Chris passed away, and I wanted the family to be able to share something together! I hope some of that 'schoolin' stuck, and helped Spike partly become the player he is now. No doubt Little Joe contributed a lot too! The last time I saw Spike was just before he was going into the Army, and I was able to visit for a short while with Heide. Spike...still got that Barry Szamboti cue? Best of luck with your future, young man! :thumbup:

Hi Rip! Yes, that was a great trip for me too. Looking back at these old pictures made me wonder about Carol, is she still playing? I have not kept up with the old crowd.
 
We all miss Chris Cass, Rip! He was my buddy too. I still talk to Spike every once in a while, as we are FB friends. He's doing well, and still playing pool!:thumbup:

Those are great pictures, Marty. I prefer to remember CC healthy, like he is in those pictures! Cancer ravaged his body in the end. I also remember that he was one of the first AzBr's to be sponsored to go to the U.S. Open. RIP CC.
