CSI Releases Pro Challenge Matches on CSI YouTube Channel

CueSports International, Henderson, Nevada (October 27, 2014) – CSI is pleased to announce that three high-profile challenge matches have been released on the CSI YouTube channel. During the 2014 CSI Invitational Championships, the following three challenge matches were recorded and are now available absolutely free.

CSI Presents…The Kamui Challenge
Shane Van Boening vs. Ko, Pin-Yi
10-Ball, Race to 21

Since 2011, Shane Van Boening has been the top performing player in the USA and arguably the world. He has been featured in numerous challenge matches with an incredible winning record, often beating his opponents by huge margins. Ko, Pin-Yi, a Taiwan superstar but relatively unknown in the USA, also possesses an impressive list of accomplishments. Many believe that Ko is one of the few players in the world that can match Van Boening’s break and explosiveness. You be the judge.

CSI Presents…The OB Challenge
Mike Dechaine & Corey Deuel vs. Efren Reyes & Francisco Bustamante
Scotch Doubles 8-Ball, Race to 21

Rarely do fans have an opportunity to see and hear the strategies and thoughts of top professionals. In this scotch doubles 8-ball match, Mike Dechaine and Corey Deuel are outfitted with microphones so fans can hear them communicating throughout the match. Opposing them are two of the best to ever play the game – Efren Reyes and Franciso Bustamante. The outcome of this USA vs. Philippines match-up may surprise you.

CSI Presents…The Tiger Challenge
Dennis Orcollo vs. Chang, Jung-Lin
9-Ball, Race to 21

Dennis Orcollo, yet another Filipino star, has become one of the most feared players on the planet. However, Chang, Jung-Lin, Taiwan’s #2 player, did not hesitate to accept this match. Although relatively unknown in the USA, Chang proves that he belongs on the main stage. The ending of this match left many people simply saying “WOW!”

Thank you guys for doing this. You could have tried to make a few bucks but took a different route. Shows a lot of class.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Many thanks.

After watching just 30 minutes of the first Van Boening vs. Ko match I decided to burn my cues. Alas, I'm not a cue collector so it will be a small fire. Smores on the house!

I agree, letting us all see the matches free is great.

Also looking forward to future TAR matches for release, I think I bought every one out there so far and likely will get them all.

Its great that they're free now.
Just a little soon for me. A PPV customer.

I don't think it's too soon at all.

You pay for a PPV to watch something live. If it were uploaded immediately afterwards, I think you could have a legitimate gripe. But these are months old at this point. Having them available to watch for free can only be a good thing, IMO.

Its a fine line. It could hurt future sales to.
other sports PPV take a good 6 months or longer.
I'm glad for those who missed it or couldn't afford it.
That helps all around.

Many thanks.

20 minutes in.... Do you mean you're 30 into watching the Van Boening match? Ko hasn't sniffed the table aside from the early bid on a safe shot. Yikes! Hope to get to see him shoot soon, first video I've watched of him playing. lol.

Oh dry break, there's Ko now :)

Thanks CSI! Great stuff to have to watch! Unlike bdorman it just makes me desperately wish I was at a table. If I owned a pool hall I'd be throwing this up on the TVs on YouTube any time there's no major sporting event on. :P

i agree, it could definitely hurt future sales knowing it's gonna be uploaded for free months later, i bought the whole thing, 8ball, 10ball, the challenges, could've just waited
not that i mind cuz i think it was worth the price and i like to support pool as much as i can, but others might feel different knowing csi events are gonna come out later for free

The matches were recorded over three months ago. One quarter of a year. Part of the deal with the sponsors was releasing the matches on YouTube as they will get far more exposure there over the long term than during the live stream.

There certainly has to be some protection of the PPV content. If it were uploaded the week after for free I could certainly see people feeling like they could of waited. Three months seems a fair amount of time to me to balance between protecting the PPV buyers and giving value to the sponsors. If you wait six months or a year people have forgotten all about the event.

Nothing ever satisfies everyone but in this case it was what we thought would work best all around.

well like i said, i don't mind one way or the other, i sometimes buy streams and don't have time to watch them, happened with the shane vs jayson race to 100, doesn't mean i ask for a refund, on the contrary, i ordered the dvd of the match, i like to help out pool as much as i can
i can just see how both sides can make an argument, but i agree with you, they should be on youtube for all to see, and i don't mind watching the matches again
thanks for all you do Justin and CSI
