CSI Releases Pro Challenge Matches on CSI YouTube Channel

The matches were recorded over three months ago. One quarter of a year. Part of the deal with the sponsors was releasing the matches on YouTube as they will get far more exposure there over the long term than during the live stream.

There certainly has to be some protection of the PPV content. If it were uploaded the week after for free I could certainly see people feeling like they could of waited. Three months seems a fair amount of time to me to balance between protecting the PPV buyers and giving value to the sponsors. If you wait six months or a year people have forgotten all about the event.

Nothing ever satisfies everyone but in this case it was what we thought would work best all around.

Three months is reasonable to me .
Maybe a download for a fee a week or two after would be feasible for CSI someday.
Thanks again.

well like i said, i don't mind one way or the other, i sometimes buy streams and don't have time to watch them, happened with the shane vs jayson race to 100, doesn't mean i ask for a refund, on the contrary, i ordered the dvd of the match, i like to help out pool as much as i can
i can just see how both sides can make an argument, but i agree with you, they should be on youtube for all to see, and i don't mind watching the matches again
thanks for all you do Justin and CSI

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate them.

I would like to know who sold you a DVD of the Shane/Shaw match. I never made any. If someone is selling them I would like to speak with them. Please send it to me in a PM if you want.

I could be wrong, but I think he's referring to the one streamed by AZBtv a few weeks ago where Jayson made a big comeback and barely lost.

I think the timing of the release is good. I bought the PPV because it was a full awesome week of pool and I wanted to watch it live. Watching matches on youtube is great, but when you come here a lot you're going to know the outcome. I like to watch it as it happens and rewatch later on the interwebz.

Can anybody tell me what set of balls they are using in these matches. The one with the lime green 6 ball and mint green 7 ball.
Thanks.

yeah i was referring to the recent one, king of the castle, i didn't know they had previously played a race to 100

although i'd like to see that other one if you ever make it available, along with the shane vs earl race to 100 9ball, it's really difficult to get ahold of, i've been trying for like a year already since i saw the shane vs earl 10ball on the 10 footer, i also enjoyed the shane vs corey and shane vs donny on vimeo, thanks for those
i also managed to get my hands on shane vs alex race to 100 10ball where alex made the huge comeback, great great matches

PPV is all about the LIVE aspect.

Video on Demand is when you want to buy the recording.

You can't replace the feeling of being one of the few who saw it go down live.

I wouldn't care if you released the recording the next day. I paid for a live viewing and that's what I got. Anyone else can have the replays for free as soon as I am done getting my live fix.

I am happy to see them released though for free so we can continue the debate with actual matches to reference.

20 minutes in.... Do you mean you're 30 into watching the Van Boening match? Ko hasn't sniffed the table aside from the early bid on a safe shot. Yikes! Hope to get to see him shoot soon, first video I've watched of him playing. lol.

Oh dry break, there's Ko now :)

Thanks CSI! Great stuff to have to watch! Unlike bdorman it just makes me desperately wish I was at a table. If I owned a pool hall I'd be throwing this up on the TVs on YouTube any time there's no major sporting event on. :P

There is a pool room in Tennesee that has pool matches streaming all day long. He finds playlists on YouTube and professional pool is played on the big screen from morning until closing. Every pool room should do this.

In fact every pool room should buy a google chromecast for at least ONE tv so that any of the players could call up whatever match or instructional video they want to see and discuss it, practice the drills or methods or whatever.

thanks so much to csi and everyone responsible for making this happen. it's, things like this that help grow pool to the public. video content is crucial for keeping pool alive and well. fantastic.

Yup. I missed the race to 100 part. After having several people slinging bootlegs over the years it makes me twitchy.

Earl v Shane 10 footer is up next week on the VOD. After that not sure. I'll dig around and see what I can find.

Thats a damn good idea. Be pretty slick to have a cheap netbook/tablet behind the bar or mounted somewhere that a guy could pull up matches. Naturally it would be destroyed/stolen or used to stream midget amputee porn but such is life. Still a cool idea despite the fact that people find a way to ruin most things.

This match might be one of your biggest sellers.

We are all spoiled these days with all the pool live streams and online content that is free. I do sadly think it has watered down the market in some ways for content that is for sale but if the game is growing from it and getting interest from new players that is what really matters.

One must not discriminate when it comes to porn.

Thank you CSI for posting this match. Really enjoyed watching.

Amazing how these great players make the game look simple. If only it was...

The pool room I used to play in in Cyprus did the same thing...they even tried to get a TAR event streamed in, but couldn't get a stable enough connection...not TAR's fault, the room didn't really have good DSL connectivity, kept dumping out at the time. It really is cool to shoot pool while watching a top tier match on a big screen. Today it's just too easy to do, most don't think of it.

Back when TCOM came out, a room I shot in used to play the soundtrack on a continuous loop over the sound system...kind of got old real fast, but everytime I hear one of those songs I tend to think of that room first and the movie second. :embarrassed2:

A smart pool room owner would stream the Mosconi Cup, too...although I'm not sure what the PPV rules on mass showings are, if it goes by normal PPV rules (broadcast) it's a totally different price. I think you could get a lot of folks into your room to watch on the big screen, drop some coin on food/beverages/table time using that draw.

I agree with this. I used to wait for the DVDs then I bought my first TAR PPV and bought multiple since then. If it's a match I want to see and I'm available, I'm almost always buying the PPV.
