Hello Everyone. Sorry I havent been posting or commenting lately. I've really been diving in to some practice with Basic and Pro One. Documented 3000 shots of Basic followed by 1500 shots of Pro One.
I am at the Illinois State ACS (American Cuesport Alliance, basically BCAish) and the question of the day is... how much cash have you won using CTE?
Placed 5th/6th in the 9 ball Tournament out of 82 players.
8 Ball we were to be divided into skill brackets. In 2016 I won the Illinois Open and have been playing as an advanced player ever since. This is the first year I have been able to play in singles since then. Because of low master turnout, the brackets we combined with masters spotting a game. I was the last Advanced player standing which technically means I won the tournament I paid to enter despite the tournent committee being stingy with my plaque because the are "saving the masters plaques for next year." (WTF?, we paid for them") So even though I was the last advanced player standing, I still get a 2nd place plaque. Little unhappy but I will just have one made lol.
ANYWAY! So after 15 years of practicing I have joined the Illinois Ranks as a Master player. Won around $1,000 in 2 days (no calcutta) and its all thanks to this info.

I have made shots, not fully understanding the shots, using cte, that i know i would NEVER have made in a million years, and have shocked players that would normally beat me with their eyes shut.. CTE is a aiming system🤓. It is a choice of a system to use or not.💡

I do not get why everytime CTE is brought up people do not get idea it is a choice to use, or not use.💡

JBcases aka John Barton had spent a lot of time creating instructional U-Tube.

BTW what is title of Stan,s book?

The "discussion" here in this thread (started by John Barton) should relate to positive testimonials about CTE.
I've enjoyed posting some of those testimonials and will continue to do so.
This thread is not for fighting or being sarcastic. That can be done in some of the other threads.
You could at least TRY to be in compliance with the theme of this thread...please?

If you only knew. There was a time when I might have been able to get you into the White House, and not part of a tour group.
 
Here's a testimonial. I'm not sure why, nor do I want to "debate" it, but it works. I can't say why, if it tunes me into what I'm seeing more, averages errors by using 2 references or what, but if I'm shooting like crap and decide to bust out some beginner level understanding CTE, the ball splits the pocket, even blind back cuts. Do I think it's the only way to aim? Of course not, but damn if it doesn't work, even though it confuses me as to why it works.

If you're in one of those situations where the balls look funny and it's a bit hard to find the contact point, CTE to the rescue. I honestly don't care about the history and all the venom spitting all around, but it's legit. I have a feeling that the more you use it and the more iterations you learn and understand, the better it becomes.

At first I was curious about it, enough to buy the book. I did some of the exercises, like only the first 50 or so pages. It seemed to work, but I didn't want to completely switch to it. I sort of forgot about CTE and the book for a few months as I've been playing a hell of a lot lately, no time for practice when in matches. Tried the basic stuff tonight as I just wasn't seeing the balls and boom, in they go, nice natural shape.

I've been working on my stance and stroke a lot lately, trying to gain consistency and minimize errors, with these improvements CTE is singing even better. I have no clue how far I'll go with the systems but I do feel they are worth perusing, especially once you get your fundamentals under control.
 
John should worry about not being able to grasp the appropriateness of the label. It's the geometry of the contacts. Pretty stupid to flail at arguing that. Contact geometry is picture perfect. If you shoot by contact geometry, you can develop your accuracy to complete coherence to the actual shot.
If - and here's some appropriate logic, if you shoot by CTE what happens? The more you practice the further off base you get? There is no specificity to a <perception> except the apparent silhouette of two spheres. Care to explain how that results in pool?

That's good work.
You have moved forward with an open mind and put in some sincere work at the table instead of trashing it and Stan and everything concerned with it as..."insane, lies, snake oil, false, ridiculous, un-scientific",...you name it.
I too have always said, I don't know why it works but I've got a hunch. I think(?) it works mainly because the perceptions when aligned correctly give an automatic overcut to the pocket (without the shooter even being aware of it) thereby eliminating "throw", "cling".....whatever anyone wants to call it. And if most misses are showing up "thick"...the experts say that throw/cling is the culprit usually. That's much different from fractional aiming as fractional aiming doesn't automatically compensate for throw/cling.
Stan says, and I believe it too.......IT WILL ONLY GET BETTER, THE MORE YOU USE IT. BECAUSE YOU'RE RE-PROGRAMMING YOUR EYES DIFFERENTLY FROM THE WAY YOU'VE BEEN USING THEM FOR YEARS.
That was a helluva struggle for me due to my age and having been told for decades about 'stand behind that cue ball, draw a straight line in your mind to the pocket, imagine an invisble ghost ball sitting there and then hit that ghost ball.' Or do what Willie Mosconi supposedly advocated in his book about "all shots can be calculated mathematically so let's leave nothing to chance". (he didn't do that himself either)
That change in how to use the vision also occurs without the shooter exerting any overly conscious effort, other than the gearing, toward that result. I really like that part. (Then you can stop 'thinking' at the table and just "let the good times roll"). Just wait until you get into the Disguised Pivoting......your opponents will throw up their hands with amazement.
You're going to catch hell around here from the 'naysayers' though. That just goes with the territory so to speak.

It results in making balls in the easiest way possible and the best way possible in our opinion. Do you have positive results from your pool career you’d like to share?
