Cue stick threads on Main Forum

I realize there have been quite a few threads as of late on a variety of topics pertaining to cue sticks, a trend of which was initiated when a pro player's release from a company was discussed at length. :D

Does anybody think it would be helpful to readers to have these cue threads over on the Cue section of this Discussion Forum as opposed to the Main section?

I do know that there are many interested in cue sticks, buying, selling, how are they made, how do they hit, who's the best, who's the worst, et cetera, et cetera.

I'm just throwing this thread out as a feeler to see if anyone else agrees. When I woke up this morning to read the Main Forum, like I do every morning, the majority of threads and posts on the Main Forum were about cues. I like cue stick discussions too, but I personally think they would be better on the Cue section of this Discussion Forum.

What say you, dear readers of AzBililards? :)

Edited for a happy birthday wish. Hope you had a good one. :D

In the AzBilliards Forums, there are four categories: Main Forum, Tournament Talk, Cues, and Ask the Pros.

The Cue category is what I am referring to! :)

Just what I'm saying

There is no section for discussing production cues.:)
Maybe there should be?

Personally, I think any discussion about cues would fit right in the Cue category of AzBilliards Discussion Forum, maybe a subsection in the Cue category called "Cue Talk." This could encompass anything from production cues to Bushkas!

JMHO, FWIW!

I think the thing is that there isn't really a cue section, per say, as it is a gallery meant for pictures. That being said, there is oftentimes a thread or two discussing cues but there is not a section specifically for discussing cues.

Got any pull with Mike? It just really does not belong in the other subdivisions. Or in the For sale section. That's why it ends up here.:)
Have a great day.

i think the cue threads were all over main for a long time before the cuetec thing.

the site's not planned well enough to channel posters in the right diretion, and there's too much clutter in the forum index for anyone to bother. the forum needs a haircut.

I think it is kind of a nice idea. There would probably be fewer (for example) cuetec bashing threads. It would surely need to be rigidly enforced however. I'm also kind of sick of seeing the "These are my two choices for my new cue, what do you think?!!111!!!!! ZOMG" threads.

No question about it. There is a plethora of topics in the wonderful world of pocket billiards. That's for sure! :p

If I were a librarian, I'd have a tough time categorizing them.

I had thought that maybe the topic of individual cue brands would maybe be a good "fit," for lack of a better word, in the Cue section as opposed to the Main Forum category.

Don't bother moving the Cuetech threads..they will run their course and and won't clog up Scorsese thread space.

The fact there are so many threads about cues and tips, and so on, in the main section shows that it is the place where posters new and old like to mix it up.

Heading over to another part of the forum is a different experience, with a different "feel" to it. Having discussions about cues in the main section occurs because that's where it feels natural to hold them. And they sure do get a lot of play...

It would seem to me that a subcatagory on the main page would work. However you would not want to bury the catagory within another subcatagory. Most people are visual, if they dont see it in front of them they wont look for it and you will end up with most of the posts in the main catagory in any case.
The name chosen should make it obvious that the catagory is for the lay person that wishes to post for information or opine on their experiece and not directrd specifically at the professionals that contribute to the forum.
Afterall, we have either found the holly grail of cues and wish tell everbody about it or are still searching.

Stil searching myself. :)

As a systems person

I can tell you that how you organize your data is very important, and having too many categories can be self-defeating for maintaining overall interest.
If people have to go through many steps to get to the bottom level, it will act as a negative towards keeping their interest level up.

Imagine having 3 pages of menu choices with categories, and with sub-menu choices, and you start to get the idea of what I am saying. I do think though, that many repeat threads should just be referred to doing a
'search' function on key words, such as 'Schon cue' or 'tips' or whatever so that a poster, perhaps a new one, can see what has previously been discussed thoroughly regarding the subject.

You got my vote.

I like the cue threads right where they are.

Why? For me, I hardly ever go to the other sections, unless I want to ask a specific question.

Also, cues are such an integral part of the game that they warrant getting maximun exposure, IMO.

Finally, IMO, I think we need to get the $%@#$% happy birthday threads off the main forum if anything.

How about having a separate section for Efrem? :D Maybe it's just me, but it seems like most of the threads started about 'who's the best' are by Efrem lovers, just to get some more justification for their beliefs.

Or the Phillipinos? :D

Last two, I am just kidding.

There are too many posts on the main forum. Something posted
yesterday is now 3 pages back.
A new section called cue discussion is needed & would cut down
some of the traffic on the main forum.

None of the three categories under Cues cover what you are wanting. So I would say if cue talk on the main forum bothers you talk to Mike or Mr. Wilson about adding a fourth "Cue Talk" category. But if you do and you want tournament talk elsewhere, what will people talk about? How to play only? There is a section for pool table talk. We could add a "Run Down People" category. That would wipe half the threads on the main forum out. I am just wondering how incremental we really need. Should we just add a few more categories and do away with the main forum all together? I think a cue talk category might be fine, but alot of people want to know from the general public their thoughts on cues. Some just go on the main forum and don't visit the other 20 forums. So they will get a narrower opinion when they ask cue questions on a Cue Talk forum.
