Cue stick threads on Main Forum

I think that the keyword "cuetec" should be blocked by the administrators and that all people who have "cuetec" avatars banished to the forbidden forest. Then the remaining AZ'ers (those without cuetec avatars) could collect all the cuetecs on earth and bring them to the forbidden forest where they could never harm a beginning player ever again.

This is just my take but what do I know?

The cue section consists of three rooms. Cue Gallery, Ask the Cue Maker and Cue Machinery. Aside from that, there is no place to discuss cues of any kind. One section is for viewing. One is for discussion with those who make them and another is for discussion about the machinery used to make them. But there is no other place outside of main to discuss this.

Personally I think MAIN is the best place for it because this is the general pool discussion area. Its like talking about Efren playing with or without teeth or watching DCP ask how to get out of a rack that he screwed up the night before. Or even hearing travis talk about his 4,381 win. Those are things that I dont give a shit about. But this is where I find 'em because it falls into the realm of "general pool info".

Above all, it's always best to KISS :)

No question about it. There is a plethora of topics in the wonderful world of pocket billiards. That's for sure! :p

If I were a librarian, I'd have a tough time categorizing them.

I had thought that maybe the topic of individual cue brands would maybe be a good "fit," for lack of a better word, in the Cue section as opposed to the Main Forum category.

I've been a member of a golf forum ( WWW.4GEA.COM ) since it was spawned (from another golf forum - on a magazine site) in 1999. It is VERY easy to navigate, and topics are sub-categorized very well....and if a topic is posted in the wrong category, a moderator will move it pretty promptly.

I realize that it is easy to get used to one format or another, but this site seems much tougher to find things that I've previously read, unless I reply to the post. On the website mentioned above, I can click on previously read, or high interest (ones I've started or replied to), unread, new today, etc. etc. etc. I'm sure messing around with formats is a tough thing to do, but I do wish this site were a bit more organized....

Wrong forum

I think the discussion of Cuetec belongs on the Bassmasters Forum or maybe Trout Fishing In America.:D :D

I realize there have been quite a few threads as of late on a variety of topics pertaining to cue sticks, a trend of which was initiated when a pro player's release from a company was discussed at length. :D

Does anybody think it would be helpful to readers to have these cue threads over on the Cue section of this Discussion Forum as opposed to the Main section?

I do know that there are many interested in cue sticks, buying, selling, how are they made, how do they hit, who's the best, who's the worst, et cetera, et cetera.

I'm just throwing this thread out as a feeler to see if anyone else agrees. When I woke up this morning to read the Main Forum, like I do every morning, the majority of threads and posts on the Main Forum were about cues. I like cue stick discussions too, but I personally think they would be better on the Cue section of this Discussion Forum.

What say you, dear readers of AzBililards? :)

I completely agree with you 110%

There have been many times that the main forum has 10-12 threads about cues, cuemakers, congratulations on good deals, etc. Although I don't challenge the fact that the posters have a right to start these threads, it oftentimes makes the main forum look as if there are only cue collectors and buyers posting. Many times I have wondered why these posts were not made in the cuemaker section - just like Jennie is asking now -FWIW I never open any of those threads to read anyway - but they do seem to clutter up the main forum from time to time and it can be frustrating to wade through them all.

You can not put a Cuetec thread in the Cuemaker section!:p
We would have a mutiny!
I think it's fine the way it is. But if anything we would need a new section.
But then you know how people hate change.;)

I think the cues section should be called "equipment" and that the "ask a table mechanic" be moved there. You could add a forum to discuss cues, cases and tables and get opinions there.

I think tournament announcements should also be moved to the top of tournaments group.

I agree with you 100%, but I don't see this happening. Seems that there are two issues that I see over and over again.

#1) People just don't understand in what section a particuliar post should go. When the IPT was a hot topic, even though the IPT had its own section, threads would wind up in the main forum. Sometimes, people thought that what they had to say was so important that they posted the exact same new thread in both the main forum & IPT forum. This has happened in other instances too for other topics. I just don't think people 'get it'.

#2) People, also in the belief that what they are saying is so important, refuse to post a reply in an original thread. They feel that if they create a new thread, even though on the same subject, it holds more meaning. The cuetec topic wouldn't have been so bad IF people would have kept one continuous thread. I am not going to take the time to count but, what were there, at least 5 threads concerning this after the original one. Again, this has happened in many other instances.

With the internet, you unfortunately come across people with all levels of comprehension. That is something you cannot change unless you want to start a class on internet forum etiquette. Good luck if you do. j/k:D

Another part to having 100 subforums, is that someone is always putting posts in wrong areas.

Just who is supposed to keep all these posts "where they belong" ?

Personally, I get an email for replies to threads I am subscribed to and there is a notice in uder CP for new posts in a subscribed thread also.

If someone wants to revisit a thread that they have not had a respronse to, click "list subscriptions" and you can find it that way too.

The flip side is that if people want thier post to be front and center for a longer period, there are smaller, less busy boards that it will stay right in front for a long time.....it also means that nobody has read it or replied either.......if that helps.

Not to mention, all these posts and threads posted willy-nilly allover AZB makes it nearly impossible for me to wade through while trying to share my vast wealth of pool knowledge on all aspects of the game.... imo

There are a lot of valid points here. With the amount of posts that come in on the main page to constantly police it would be a full time job. Also the main page is a great place for all sorts of subject matter. However a post generally disappers to subswqent pages rather quickly. So the trick would be to find a method to get a large amount the posts to the areas where they should be in the first place.
ebay has solved that problem. When you go to sell an item are asked wich catagory you wish to have your item in. Aside from having to have a web page designer do some alterations to the code there is no reason that the forum could no do a much scaled down version of what ebay does. It would be at most 4 clicks of the mouse. 1 new post. 2 select catagory, 3 subcatagory(if needed) 4 post. No more complicated than that. To go further would make the process to combersome. Also each of the main catagories could have a general discussion area. There would be some posting chaos but at least it would be in organized areas.
