Looking for feedback from anyone that has used Cue Stock Inc
http://www.cuestockinc.com as a supplier? Looking for good/bad/indifferent. PMs are fine if you don't want to respond publicly. Thanks,
Dave

I have never ordered thru their site but have seen their shaftwood at valley forge in the past. It was very white and the grade was good for the price.

I have ordered shaft wood , both standard and Radially laminated. I sent some to Russia to Dymitry. I think it was all very good shafts, Dymitry was also pleased. Jim

Head and shoulders above most others.
I've been buying wood from them for many years, always satisfied.

I've been buying shaft blanks from Bill for 12~15 yrs. now.
I don't buy so much anymore because about 1/2 of my cues go out with a Predator shaft. Well, to be honest, I didn't buy so much back then either.
Most of the suppliers I've gotten blanks from must have a slightly different grading system than I do or maybe it's the state of the economy or maybe my expectations have changed, I don't know. It used to be that when I placed an order for say, 10 A+ blanks, 7~8 would be what I ordered or met my approval for what I expected.
Now, if I get 5~6 out of 10 that meet my approval, I consider myself lucky.
Given what I (and most others) get for a finished shaft, I'm not losing any money. The ones that I cull during in-house grading just go on lower priced cues.

Overall, I'd say that I'm satisfied with what I've purchased.
Shaft blanks is an area in which it pays to have multiple sources.
So to that end, I'm always looking for new sources.
CueStock will remain as one of them.

I've been very happy with them as well. This was the first place I ordered from and haven't went anywhere else.

I guess I'm in the minority. I was behind on my shafts and ordered 12 shafts (custom grade) that needed one more cut. Most of them went in the trash because after having them for about a month, they were no longer straight. Perhaps the dowls are fine, but from now on, I won't trust shafts that I don't cut myself.

Thanks very much for the responses. I am currently having problems once again with my lathe/taper bar setup and want to purchase a few finished shafts for a few cues that are almost done. I need them for christmas, so I was considering a few sources. A local repair guy told me about Cue Stock, so I figured I'd ask. Thanks again.

I have not bought finish size shafts in years but back when I was Chris Hightowers were a better choice.

While cuestock has provided nice dowels their finished taper always moved.

I also bought about 20 finished shaft from this source and had over 1/2 of them move. I tried to talk to them to get some sort of exchange or refund but nothing happened. I have not bought from them since.

I think a few years back they had more business that they could handle. Thus the problems mentioned by others. They seem to deliver good quality for the price these days. I have and will continue to use them.

I have bought from a couple suppliers a few years ago, before buying the taper bars from Chris, but just a few shafts from each one. I could only use 2 out of the 6-7 I bought. After hanging them for about 6 months and checking them about every 3-4 weeks, I finally went to use them and most had warped, including a laminated one. As with anything made of wood, anything can happen and there are no guarantees.
I will give these guys a shot, but not a big order, just some to try them out. If it works out, I may give up cutting my own and all the hassle of reconfig. my lathe every time I need to cut a batch.

I have had nothing but good and positive dealings with Bill as both a buyer and seller. In the past he has alerted me when he has had super premium shaftwood available. I have not been disappointed. Because of Bill I have a large stash of straight-grained high growth ring tapered cones. They weren't cheap but they are what he said they were. I also bought .900/.560 custom grade shafts and have had very few not stay straight. On one buy I did sent back about 8 out of 60 pieces that had grain runout.

William Dominiak asked that I relay the following info....he said that anyone unhappy with his product would get better results if you complain to him instead of complaining openly on the forum. He also said that they replace product, they don't argue.

That's a good thing to hear. Some places won't. Thanks Kevin
