Anybody use a gun cabinet to store cues? Advantages and disadvantages?

A curious mind wants to know!!

Thanks in advance.

HAHAHA!!!! That is flippin sweet! I have no info for ya but just the idea makes you a bad a.

I'm pretty sure I have read on here that a lot of people use gun cabinets or gun safes. Please don't use one until you find out from someone that knows cue storage. I'm old and I might of dreamed about it or thought of it after smoking some hi-test weed. Johnnyt

I searched the forums but couldn't come up with anything. I also thought there were some threads on this. I'll keep searching. Thanks for your response.

Got it for free
Replaced one shelf with lexan
Drilled holes in it
Butts and shafts held up by joint protectors

what a great idea chuck!! i'll have to see if i can squeeze a similar cue display into my game room in one side of my entertainment center aka the never ending project.

The issue is a) keeping them upright without stress and b) controlling moisture levels. a) should be a problem, so it comes down to b). Remember that too much humidity is just as bad as not enough. Personally, I am very sad that Centennial cases are no longer made. Best of all time.

Best place would be anywhere you could maintain 40-55% humidity.

I have a humidifier in my storage unit, that is set to keep the humidity at 47%
It does have to be refilled about once a week, but I dont mind checking on them at least that.

I keep my cue somewhere in my trunk/car/garage/backyard/basement. Sometimes I store it in some dive bar somewhere.

I've been using a gun safe for about the past 5 years, never really thought about any disadvantages, but I guess there could be. I really just thought it was better then the alternative in my case.

Very very very nice!

And I kid you not!

I store my cues in my gun safe which also has a Golden Rod heater installed in the interior. I keep the butt end down and I store the shaft with tip up. Been three years now and I haven't observed any problems to date. I hope this helps.:D

It does help.

Thanks for the input. I thought it might work, i guess I was looking for someone with experience using one for storage. Sounds like it works for you. Why the heater, do you keep the cabinet in a cold place?

The heater output is very low. Just enough to keep the humidity from getting out of control. It can be very humid in the NE especially during the summer months.

I'm in Colorado, not much humidity. So I probably don't need the heater. Thanks for the response. I'd rep you but I have to spread it around first.
