Cue tip glue

I have used Loctite Super Glue Gel for over a decade now.

On a unrelated note, I admire your work Ralph.

Go with Loctite, The 454 is great but a little pricey and tough to get locally some places, Joe Blcakburn turned me on to Loctite professional. Lowes carries it it's a 20 gram bottle and sells for $5.99 I havent lost a tip yet. Joe said it was the dead nuts as did Steve Lomax at VF this year and I gotta agree

I agree with you Strokerz. The locktite professional is available in a small size at about $3 at Home Depot and, I think, Lowes. Its simply perfect for tips. Since they are high volume stores their stock is likely very fresh--a critical factor with cyano. I've learned to discard the stuff for tip use after about 6 weeks from opening. For best results I prefer to "prime" tips and resurface the glue side prior to installation as well.

I use CA that I purchased from Cue Components that has no manufacturer's name, but has been terrific. I haven't lost a tip yet and I've done phenolic, and laminated, and single layer on full face ferrules and sleeved.

I've had tips fall off before using alot of different brands of CA glue. The Loctite pro has been said to work great, I have a bottle of it in my fridge that I will try when I run out of the Cue Components one, just haven't had to use it yet.
Alot of it is prep of the ferrule, type of ferrule, and the prep of the tip. You can use the best glue, but don't face the ferrule or the tip right, or don't apply enough pressure/glue, etc. it will fail. I have had bar cues that kept being dropped on a tile floor and the tip would pop off, I started to use household GOOP on them with 100% success. The drawback is you have to let it set 24hr, minimum, before shaping. Haven't lost a tip with it, but once or twice I have lost the whole ferrule and tenon together.:D I have also had the top of the tip rip off, but leave the whole base of it still stuck to the ferrule.
Good luck on your quest,
Dave

this locktite is line 4$ at walmart, h.d, or rite aid

i dont wana use anythingthat takes more that 5 mins for complete set up.

ive never had a cue fall and the tip pop off with gel. crazy cue or any thin glue dries too hard and the shock of a miscue it drop breaks the glue. gel glue dries a little softer. plus its less messy.

ive even used this locktite and an excell. to finish a shaft :D :D :D

Loctite 454 is damn sticky stuff... I have been using the Loctite all plastics. Has an activator in the pack. Don't get your fingers close to this stuff.

omg i almost burned my finger off the first time i used it...

i screamed like a girl-literally

I just do my own tips, and a few others, but the Loctite gel ... whatever it's called, is great stuff. Holds all my amatuer tip replacements just fine.

Loctite professional at Lowes.
Can you post a picture? I went to Lowes and could not find it.
Thanks Mike

If your Lowes did not have the little 1/2 ounce bottles of Loctite Professional they must just be sold out or you did not make it back to where they have about 50 kinds of glues all in one area together. Sorry, but I don't have a picture. It is a good glue, but I like the Loctite Super Glue Gel better as it is less messy. Both have held on tips for me with no problems. I used to solely rely on Duro Quick Gel, but since they started making it in Brazil it is not as good of a glue. It used to be pretty much the same as the Loctite Super Glue Gel.
