Anyone have any dealings with www.cuecomponents.com ?
I was looking for some new tips for my recently acquired cue and they have the Sniper tips for only $8.45 each. The cheapest I could fine anywhere, including Ebay, was $12.25. They have a minnimum order of $50. That is the first time I have ever seen a minnimum just to order. Any input would be great. Thanks

$50 min. order

Hi,

I've just recently noticed these folks on Ebay. I have bid on some of their stuff but have not had any luck winning an auction :(

My feeling with emails, etc. is that these folks are accustomed to dealing with cue makers or folks who buy in volume. It's not unusual for these businesses to want to sell a certain $$$ amount to process an order -- makes sense to me, if your a wholesaler you would not want to process orders for $10, $15, etc. -- it costs as much money to process these orders vs $1,000 orders!

I would not be afraid to give them a try -- Atlas Billiards would treat you the same way and they have good prices on stuff you may need too!!

It's just the difference between dealing with smaller retailers and a larger wholesaler

Good luck,

Ken ;)

I thought about going in on an order.. or finding people to get $50 together but that may be a hassle to recieve the items.. then send them to the buyers if they're aren't local.

If I am not mistaken, cuecomponents is a side of Barringer custom cues, Joe Barringer. I dealt with them in the past...excellent to work with...highly recommended. While they do deal with cuemakers, etc, they will sell small amounts.

Oh no!

Just beware of the Cue Components wrath! They are very touchy when it comes to questions about where your order is!

Well....all I can tell you is that they required me to make a minimum order over $50 last month.....probably cause I'm IRISH -- can't be trusted!? ;0

Greetings Friends.....

We try to please everyone but there has to be reasonable limits in place as we are a business. As was previously posted, it probably does cost us the same to process a $50 order as it does to process a $1000 order. We're talking about a tip here that we sell for $8 or so. How much profit can there be in this item? We have to pay electric, rent, telephone, employees and other things. We probably actually lose money processing smaller orders.

Here's the main reason orders under $50 don't work. We charge a standard $2 shipping for tips by USPS (the post office). If you purchase $50 in $8 tips, you're buying approximately 6 tips. Now, the $2 postage cost divided by 6 tips is only 30 cents or so per tip which is quite reasonable. It's even less when you spend more. If you purchased $100 worth of tips, then the shipping cost is only about 15 cents per tip. Now, let's look at the other side of the coin. A customer orders an $8 tip and we charge them $2 for shipping. All of a sudden we're over-charging for shipping. We have to pay for envelopes, stuffers and for an employee to fill the order. The $2 is quite reasonable when you purchase $50.

Additionally, we have to pay for credit card processing as well and it just doesn't work on $10 orders. We actually lose money.

However, I'm a reasonable chap so if any of you guys or gals out there would like to purchase one or two Sniper tips, place the order and put "as per RSB Post" in the comments section. We'll gladly fill your order but remember we're going to charge you $2 for shipping. We'll waive the $50 minimum order and make this offer good until February 4, 2006. That will give all of you a week to order. This is not a profit maker for us so please refrain from emailing us. The deal is quite simple to complete online. I hope that's reasonable.

BTW.... I like these tips better than a Moori and have been putting them on my cues for about a year now. They play great!

And to -- KRB Sailing.....
My wife is Irish! :-)

Thanks for the generous offer Joe. It is great that there are stand up guys like you out there who will do what it takes to make customers happy. I'll definitely point all the locals that I play with in your direction. Thank you again.

I know I am not the only one who noticed this. LOL

Cue Components

Hey Joe,

No problem with the minimum order thing....I was just tryin to give the AZers a FYI so to speak.

Heck, I'm in the bar business and would much rather serve up a $100 bar order vs a 16 oz beer -- doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out that equation! :D

What I will say on your behalf is that the gal taking my order was very polite and processed the order precisely; the shipment was received post haste as promised.

Sorry about all the other BS in this post....I had a good experience with you folks but, I realize that Atlas is more of a wholsaler than a retailer :D

Cheers,

Ken

P.S. -- glad to hear your wife is Irish....it's nice my wife doesn't have to suffer alone, Aye!? :p
