Cuemaker build off

Why is that.......

Why would you put a cue other than the one's specifically built for this build off. You stated earlier that you were going to do a build off with higher end cues in the near future, why not send it then. If this guy want's people to check out his work then he should have participated in the build off like the other folks did. The whole purpose of this build off was to put up and coming cuemakers cues in peoples hands and I don't think anything else should be going along for the ride....

Bob

The Sneaky Pete will not be evaluated with the cues that were built for this build off. The higher end build off is going to be about a year away..

If the majority of the cuebuilders that are in this dissagree with putting the sneaky pete in the mix...but NOT be juded with the build off cues..I will not send it with the group..

I will send an email out to all the builders thats involved and we will see what we will do with the SP..

BUILD OFF IS UNDERWAY!!!!!!!

Eric Crisp has everything and is sending the cues to me!

Here We GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If plain janes give you chub I wonder what the more elaborate cue build off will give you!! LOL. I'm very excited also...please post those pics when you get the cues. Thanks, Rob.

Somewhere in these 24 pages this has probabbly been said but there are way to many for me to read. I always thought it would be neat to have several cue makers buil identical fancy cues and then have the public or other cue makeers judge them. They would leave their names off of them so there was no way of telling who made which cue, maybe put a number or name under the bumper. I have looked at hundreds of cues over the years and have seen just as nice work from cue makers whos cues cost 1/3 of the price of the top ones out there. This would be a great way to prove that a lot of what you are paying for is just the name on the cue.

Sounds like a plan

That sounds like a fine idea! just let me know and we can work out the particulars. Do you play 1 pocket?

BTW I'm a little upset about the lack of a man-hug :D

i haven't been keeping up with this thread. how many cue makers ended up being involved?

There are 7 cuemakers that have built cues from the same specs. Eric Crisp has them right now and is shippingt them to me for initial testing. I will post pics of everyhting ehen I get them and give my initial report

I know 5 out of the 7 cuemakers involved. Eric knows the 2 that I dont know. When the cues get to me though, they are unmarked, so I do not even know who made which cue

We are planning on doing a higher end cue build off after this one is finished. We will have some cuemakers have a limit of approx a 2500 cue..and we will try and video and take pics of the building process of each cue involved in the buildoff....

I have not played 1 pocket since 1994 when I quit playing pool.....I am always willing to relearn it though!

I somehow knew you would be upset at the lack of a man hug....I will have to watch myself around you.

Any chance of adding my name to the tester list?

Sorry fd_colorado....List is already made up...next round you can hop on though! If the cues are going to be around you anyone is invited to try the cues out

I will be emailing everyone that is testers this weekend to double double check to make sure they are still involved and to let them know we are starting

These are the specs on the cues to be built

Here is a rundown on how the cues were built

1. The cue will have a lightly figured BEM forearm and butt

2. Handle will be Maple or Purpleheart, wrapped or wrapless (up to cue builder) if you specifially build all your cues with PH then use PH.

3. Cue builder to decide to core or not to core

4. Cue builders personal taper on shaft

5. Cue builder to use Molavia Medium tips

6. Builder's to use black phenolic collars, buttcap

7. Cuemakers choice on ferrule, pin

8. Weight will be 19oz +/- 0.2oz

9. No ringwork, inlays, points, signatures or trademarks

10. have integrity & build the cue as if somebody had ordered it, the same way you'd build all of your cues.

tournament's

I don't suppose that the cues will still be in the area for the Olathe, Kansas, Midwest nine ball tounament at the end of the month??? Would be nice to see them and there's a pretty big turnout, least there was last time they had it.

When is the tourney in Olathe? Eric is delivering the cues to me on the 27th, Let me know and I will see what I can do.

That may work out then, it's 10/1 through 10/4 at Shooters, here's a link; http://www.9balltour.com/ . It would be a good place to exhibit the cues, if you needed some help I'll be there for at least the one pocket and probably the whole weekend. Patrick Cue's ran the pro shop last time. I'd imagine a good amount of AZer's where on hand. I just quietly observed ... cept for getting beat down at one pocket lol...

Bob....that may be something that is definately doable....I will check with the wife, but I dont think anything is planned for that weekend. I know we are taking my 8yr old son the following weekend to Ft Benning to go show him where I was stationed at one time, and go through the new Infantry museum

Sweet, Ft. Benning, I did alot of time there myself. Airborne school was the best but the shortest.

If you get to come up let me know I'll be there all week, I have a meeting Wend. for my other business and I'll probably through some money in the one pocket entry to see if I can't hold out for more than two sets lmao....
