I have a quick question, What would you guys do if a cuemaker told you he could repair your cue in 2 weeks, call you in 2 weeks for payment and say it will be done by the end of the week. Wont get a hold of you and instead gives you an excuse and says it will go out the following week. Wait two weeks and still nothing. Call again, still having issues but it will go out the next week. Blah, Blah, Blah. Excuses, excuses, excuses. I dont care if its done. Its a month past the promised time frame and I can have someone else do it. I just cant seem to get my cue back. Im not sure why but he wont ship it. Repaires have been paid for so thats a non issue. Please tell me how I should procceed. Thanks
I have a very similar problem with a table mechanic - promised and paid for the work, he failed to note the eight holes under the felt that he had cleaned out needed re-filling before he put down the new Simonis cloth. Now, with the work halfway done and undone, I get no resonse to my attempted contacts to this mechanic, who before this had a 'good'reputation, I thought.
I am left with a semi-usable pool table, not so good when a ball rolls into one of the unfilled divots under new cloth.
Heck, several years ago when I changed the cloth myself I remembered to fill those holes, and I don't even claim to be a professional.
I do not want to get into a he-said she-said here on AZB about who owes who what and how and when, no matter what. It is demeaning to me, and to both parties. In the table refurbish mentioned I am already down several hundred dollars due to my own ignorance and mistakes, nothing to do with the mechanic's failing to fill the holes with beeswax or Bondo.
Sometimes it is cheaper to bite the bullet than to try to get work re-done or get a few hundred bucks back, at least that is my take on the situation.
With any luck, sooner or later maybe the mechanic will contact me and schedule a date to re-do his work on my table to Simonis standard. I am sure it was just a simple mistake, an oversight on his part, nothing meant to cheat me in any way.
Until then I will try not to shoot any shots down the rail, lest they fall into a divot and get stuck there.
Maybe I will even read up again on Simonis cloth replacement, pull up the old-new cloth, fill the divot holes, and replace the old/new cloth just like I did several years ago, though this galls me a little since I paid a professional table mechanic already to do this work, and yet it never got completed as a pro mechanic should have done.
