Ignorance is not the problem. Many people post statements that are ignorant of the actual facts. It's how they accept correction that is the problem. Mark Griffin and many others have faced personal slander and attacks when they tried to present the factual side of a story AFTER someone posted the ignorant version of it.
I am ignorant of many things, in fact of most things. But I TRY not to post ignorantly about them or simply make a clear statement that I do not KNOW the facts and I welcome correction. Most of the time I try to ascertain the facts BEFORE posting.
Would you believe I was attacked on the construction of Instroke cases? That's right, someone who never took a case apart in their life posted that Instroke cases were made in a way that they absolutely are not made and I challenged it with facts and was attacked. ATTACKED. Not nicely, not politely, but called a liar and told I didn't know what I was talking about.
That's what I am talking about. I would hope you could understand it.
Imagine we were on a motorcycle forum and I posted a bunch of ignorant statements about riding the Wall of Death. You would come in a correct me rightfully so and then I came back ridiculing you and calling you a liar, etc... and to top it off the closest I ever got to the Wall of Death was crashing my bicycle into the outside of one when I was ten years old.
Does that make sense to you?
Try to think about all this from my perspective. Let's talk aiming systems....guy comes in and offers his methods and what should be a geek discussion about how to best do the method turns into a personal attack on the guy. Do you think that this type of behavior should be acceptable?
Do you think that it should be permissible to then try and disrupt EVERY thread where the guy or others want to discuss this aiming method?
And after you correct me on the intricacies of riding the wall of death and fade my vicious slanderous comments I don't let you go. I follow you around and make snide comments in a variety of threads. Would that make you want to stick around and constantly fade it and deal with it? What if that person knew your name and your livelihood and used those details to continue the needling and slander?
I know I can give as good as I get...but consider a forum where no one GETS in the first place. Then no one gets into fights because they are simply NOT tolerated.

And as a correction, Royce does hang out at AZB.
He keeps his posts in the Cue Maker and Machinery Forums. Maybe he doesn't feel the need to be in the Main Forum unless its for a warranty question. No one has chased Royce away. he is very active and helpful in the forums I mentioned.
When he has time of course. He has a business to run that is undoubtedly more important than posting on a Billiard Message board.
As far as Joey's past life re his apprenticeships. What difference does that make in anyone's life. Joey has nice equipment and it is a hobby as he works full time.
If he makes 3 or 30 cues a year, who cares. The ones he does make are decent cues and play well.
Joey is also a helpful member in the 2 forums for cue makers.
Thats all I need to know about him.

Unlike you I can have fun in the pool room. Even if I lose 10k I still have fun. You, on the other hand, are not regarded as a pleasure to be around in the pool room.

And finally, if I practiced as much as you do and was still as bad as you are then I would not only quit pool I would shoot myself just because of that.
I said Royce hangs out on AZB. And he keeps his head down.
He is the model industry rep on AZB, here for your service and not about to correct anyone's ignorance at the expense of being attacked.
Plus Royce also has a much better temperament than I do. Even if he were attacked he would probably be much more likely to deflect it. I do not hold myself blameless here and have said it a zillion times.
That still doesn't mean the situation is not as I said it is regarding the climate.
As for Joey, I don't really care if he makes 3 cues a year or not. I do care when he posts his "opinion" that is ignorant at best and malicious at worst about people I know in this business.
This guy has made it his business to step into my business over and over. I don't know him and could care less about him. But when he jumps into threads behind me to talk shit then he shouldn't be surprised when it's turned on him. Maybe he should confine himself to the cue maker threads instead of spouting crap elsewhere.
The last little tidbit was him trying to say I screw my dealers. Any of my dealers know that I bend over backwards to make them happy. I have often flat out given sales to my dealers instead of taking the full retail sale because I know that the dealer and the customer are better served when I do that. About the only thing that my dealers are unhappy about is our delivery times.
But this didn't stop Joey from trying to slander me over a road trip some 18 years ago.
What kind of person reaches back 18 years to talk about a situation he really knows nothing about to try and defame me today? Well, I can't really express what kind of person that is because if I did then I would be banned. However you can let your imagination run wild and think of all the symbols above the numbers on your keyboard and it wouldn't be enough to describe how despicable I consider Joey Bautista to be as a person.
Now, you like him and some of my friends like him. Which is why I attempted in the past to reconcile but this "person" is another of those people who seems that I will never get along with, not from my side mind you. I liked his mentors Kerry Zeiler and Edwin Reyes and wish that they were here instead of him. Then we would have some really amazing knowledge on the forum without the attitude. I am a peach to be around. In person I am a lot of fun. Getting ready to play you for ten thousand I offered to play the guy you are talking about for $1000 to warm up. Gotta love a guy who is willing to do that. But I guess that guy wasn't in a mood to play pool and only wanted to be there to shark me.
As for Joey, he is singing a very different tune in "public". With all the "man up" talk.... guess it's easier to be puffing up when you're putting on the public face. What I said to him is the same in private and public.

The thread, while it does address a very real situation on AZB should never have been allowed to flourish at all as it is really not pool related. Except for the FACT that pool people avoid AZB because of some of the peeps here.
Just got off the phone with a nice gentleman who reads azb but won't post much if at all. He is of the same opinion about the worthlessness of the professional knockers on AZB.
While you are talking to Wilson ask him to censure Bautista for the ad hominem attacks perpetrated so far. I think Joey boy needs a time out to understand what it's like when you let your frustration out and start name calling.
