THIS IS A FIRST TIME. MOST THE TIME I JUST READ AND MOST OF THE TIME ENJOY THE TALK. I READ ABOUT SOME CUE MAKERS NOT TAKING CARE OF PROBLEMS, INFACT I WAS THERE WHEN A FELLOW OPEN THE BOX OF A DP CUE, ANE THERE WERE SMALL BUBBLES UNDER THE FINISH, WHEN HE CALLED THEY OFFERED TO RE FINISH IT FOR $$, OR YOU BOUGHT IT ITS YOURS. I WAS IN NEED OF A BACK UP CUE FOR THE RENO OPEN BAR TABLE IN MARCH.
I SAW A CUE ON EBAY MADE BY CROWN CUSTOM CUES, I LIKE WRAPLESS CUES AND THIS ONE HAD A WOOD I HAVE NEVER SEEN MADRONE BURL HANDLE, SO I BOUGHT IT. IT DEVELOPED A PING NOISE, THOUGHT IT WAS A LOOSE FERREL OR TIP. I ASKED A COUPLE OF GUYS TO HIT A COUPLE OF BALLS AND SEE IF THEY COULD HERE OR FEEL SOMETHING. ONE GUY HIT A BALL AND SAID YEA THE FERRLE IS LOOSE AND LAYED IT ON THE TABLE, WHEN I PICKED IT UP IT FELL APART IN TWO PCS. BROKE ABOUT TWO INCHS BELOW THE JOINT EXPOSING THE PIN.
I SENT THE PCS. TO THE CUE MAKER GENE La VINESS FOR A OPINION. HE CALLED ME FROM HIS SHOP IN BROKEN ARROW OK. I LIVE NEAR LAKE TAHOE, SAID IT WAS A BAD PCS OF WOOD AND WOULD SEND ME A NEW CUE THE NEXT DAY. I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD SAVE THE BURL HANDLE. SO HE BUILT A NEW CUE USING THE BURL. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT IT HERE.

TALK ABOUT GREAT SERVICE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CUE MAKER TO ANYONE

ITS SORT OF FUNNY TELLING THIS STORY, BECUSE I DESIGN AND SELL COKER CUSTOM CUE, NEVER HAD ONE RETURNED, BUT WE DO I WILL MAKE SURE WE WILL TREAT A CUSTOMER LIKE THIS JUST GETTING STARTED CUEMAKER, SORRY FOR BEING SO LONG WINDED

There are many cuemakers who are good people. Tim Scruggs once did the same for me on one of his cues. I had shattered the forearm breaking. Sent it to him and had an identical replacement in mere days. No charge...no questions. Top customer service.

I would like to add Jack Madden to your list of Cuemakers that care...

i told this story before.. but awhile ago, i bought my second jack madden custom cue from somebody here on the forum..

found a slight problem with it, where the joint wasnt shaped right, turned out to be the material that was used in it.. anyways.. i sent it back to Jack for him to fix.. i told him.. to charge me whatever he thought was right.. i was determined to either have the joint changed to steel so i could keep it and play with it.. or fix it like it was so i could resell it because it just didnt play the way i wanted...

to make a long story short.. jack took the cue , i bought second hand, and replaced the joint back to steel.. which infact made the cue feel like it was reborn.. it plays really good now.. he shipped it back to me on his dime and told me not to worry about any compensation for his time.. had it back to me in less then a week or recieving it..

Jack Madden and his wife are truley amazing people who care about the people who own his cues and really strive to make sure people are happy with them...

Hmmm...lets get this right. You design & sell Coker cues but yet you bought your back up cue on Ebay? Tom & Grady will probably fire you now after that public statement.

is it really that bad? some cuemakers own cues made by other cuemakers too.

Paul Dayton, Chad McLennon (CAM Cues), Sheldon LeBow, Wes Hunter (Hunter Classic Cues) are all cuemakers who care and go out of their way to take care of their customers.

Can't say enough about Pete Ohman. I was going to Myrtle Beach for four or five days, and he put together an awesome Cocobolo cue quick and beautifully. If you can find a cue that plays better than this one, I'll buy you a beer.

Please Note .....

Chad McLennan makes a great product and really cares about his customers. We kept in touch a lot when he was building my sneaky

Bret Hartman is another cuemaker who cares a lot about his customers. I bug him every 3 days about cues and he still hasnt put me in his ignore list :)

Kerry Zeiler is also awesome. He calls you up to discuss things to make sure you get what you want.

Todd Elkins [Parrot Cue] and his apprenctice Rayman Walters in Richmond,VA. One of the best to deal with.

I would like to add JW Petree to the list. I have had a cue on order with him for a while now and he has been great to work with. He was almost done with it at one point but something happened to the butt that he didn't like and he started over. He didn't have to do that and he did anyways and then because of the extended amount of time it has taken he is setting me up with a matching jumper for a little bit less than normal. Every conversation I have had with him he has always been right up front. After hearing some of the stories (which I am sure is the minority) I am glad that I will not have to tell one myself. JW is a stand up guy and just because of the way he has treated me - he will get much of my business in the future.

A lot of caring cue makers have already been mentioned, but let me add the name of an old friend of mine - Dick Neighbors.

I admit I've tire kicked him a few times and he's been unbelievably patient and nice to deal with. Super guy that I know at some point I'll do business with.
