Exactly. Maybe this is the kick in the ass he needs, I mean come on the guy is one of the most dominate 9 ball players of all time. His personal life has drained him the last several years. Maybe a fresh start will be just the thing to bring the Pearl back to the top of the heap.John Barton said:If Earl snaps off a tournament with a different cue then it's because his head was in the right place and the stars lined up.
John Barton said:Really? Be honest, and I mean really honest. How many of you have ever purchased a cue because a particular pro is playing with it? How many of you have spent any time trying out a cue because a pro was sponsored by that brand.
The cue that Earl used couldn't be considered a Cuetec anyway. He taped up the grip to huge proportions, he had the shaft, if it was even a Cuetec shaft modified beyond recognition.
If Cuetec is SO BAD then Earl is a bigger idiot than he acts on TV for sacrificing his game for a sponsorship.
He might actually play a little better now that the PRESSURE from his sponsor to actually act like a professional is removed.
You know, it's truly hilarious how many people want to discount the equipment's role in the overall performance and results, and YET in this case it's all the cue's fault.
Well people, if the CUE gets all the blame then it gets ALL the CREDIT as well for the 3 world championships Earl has won with the cue, for the US Open he won with it, for all the high finishes, for every victory in the last 16 years. Cuetec gets the credit for the Camel Tour win. Cuetec gets the credit for the million dollar run of 11 racks.
Since you are so ready to place blame on the cue are you just as willing to give credit?
Get off this track, it goes nowhere. If Earl snaps off a tournament with a different cue then it's because his head was in the right place and the stars lined up.

I dont know about you, but the last time, i checked Cuetecs are Trashy Sticks.
I still cant believe people buy them, thinking they are a good cue.

Russ did you go out and buy a Scorpian cue also or even try one?Russ Chewning said:I'm being really honest here. I tried out and bought a Schon because Johnny Archer used to play like God with one. He was always the consummate professional, and I think he got a LOT of my generation curious about Schons.
I know Schons have supposedly always been one of the highest regarded custom/commercial cues, but I personally tried one out because of Archer.

Just curious to know what your definition of a good cues is and what a trashy one is.
I hope it's a little more concrete than personal preference.
