I have been asked to respond to this thread for clarification.
So I will and I am sure that some will hate what I have to say. But hate away.
First, Eric has contacted me about the interiors and we are building them and yes the shipping is going to be expensive. I am paying my people extra to work nights to finish them.
Secondly Jack made a generous offer and while I don't know how much he wants for them it's noble of him to give up some of his stock when we all know that Jack's cases are always in high demand.
As I told Eric on this subject, if the cases have been cut and planned around our interiors then they won't fit Jack's. I said this more than a week ago when I thought that they might be able to go to J&J and buy some of their cheapo cases which use the exact same interiors that Jack puts in his cases.
The reason that Chaz' cut parts won't fit is that our tubes are a different size. Unlike Jack I was able to develop these tubes as I wanted them. Our tubes are made of 100% new PVC and are practically indestructable. They are tons better than what Jack uses.
A bold statement I know especially when one speaks of Justis. But the fact remains that Jack buys stock interiors from the Long Chan case factory and they are the very same that Long Chan has used for years and years on their lowest priced tube cases.
If you know China then you know that they cut as many corners as they can UNLESS the buyer specifically outlines their specifications. Thus the tubes that Long Chan supplies are made of recycled plastic and a lot of air. This makes them more brittle.
Now, many of you are probably saying that if it's good enough for Jack Justis it's good enough for me and if so then you would be right. It is perfectly clear that Jack's interiors are good enough for just about about any normal use of a cue case. But let's not make them out to be "better" than they are.
If you want the BEST protection in this style of interior then it's a JB Case/Sterling interior. That's what Chaz and Eric have settled on.
I wasn't going to sell my interiors to others at all but I decided that if people were going to buy our lower priced cases and strip them for the interiors then I should not waste that work by having people throw away the exteriors.
I have seen some of Chaz's work and this kid is going to be a contender in the case making business. He and Eric have to figure out their business issues but I will tell you that Chaz simply committed the kind of error that a lot of business newbies commit in taking on too much at once. He has a lot on his plate and I can tell all of you that he sold you the cases too cheaply. What he needs to do is invest in a CAMERA and send out pictures of the things he is working on. Pick up the PHONE and call your customers.
Which is easy for me to say since I am notorious for being slow to respond to customers.
But I respond eventually.
So there you have it. That's the story of the interiors so far.
Phinmole. I will take your spot and give you a $300 credit for a JB Case if you don't want to wait for Chaz anymore. Your frustration is understandable. I have several J.Flowers cases ready for immediate delivery if you are interested. Essentially I am trading you one of mine for one of Chaz' cases. Although I would much prefer it if Chaz would simply call you and work it out.
Please email me at jb@jbideas.com if you want to talk about it. I am supposed to be on vacation from AZ.
