Custom Pool Room

So let me get his straight, you didn't get anything done this weekend, but you built a custom Cue rack? That may not be much for you but for most of us that would be an accomplishment.

I thought that was a funny statement as well. That cue rack would have taken me about 2 weeks and then I would have had to pay someone else to do it correctly instead!

I guess when you're as talented as dsoriano obviously is, things tend to be done quicker! This entire project is moving along at great speed and it's beautiful when you factor that he's mainly working by himself on the weekends.

Just amazing! I hope all you guys that live close to dsoriano get a chance to stop in and see all of the work he did first hand.

dsoriano: I just seen these photos and WOW... What a nice room. You are doing some beautiful work. A lot to be proud of. Love the stain glass with the lights. Would like to do that in my game room. If I can figure out where to put one. Did you have that stain glass specially made up? Don't know if I over looked a post but what kind of table do you have? Best of Luck with your game room, it is really beautiful.

Yo! Straightman, I'd say you have definitely missed a post. Take my advice, If you're new to this thread you need to start from the beginning, read slowly and take in every post dsoriano has written, one by one. Only then will you come to truly understand what this man is capable of creating. And only then will you get the answers you seek, and you might just feel a tad foolish knowing you asked "if he's had something specially made up";)

Remember, every post! Not just the ones with the PICTURES.

I can answer that for you, He made the stained glass pieces himself, it's on an early post, this is an incredibly talented man and we are privileged that he is sharing all of this with us. He has built the room from the ground up by himself, with only a little help from his dad in the early stages. The only thing he had someone else do, was the tape & bed on the drywall and the texturing.

He has 2 Brunswick 8 ft. Medalist tables that he is going to restore & set up when the room is finished. All of this info is somewhere in the first 10 pages of posts.

He calls making a custom cue rack over the weekend not getting anything done, that's how talented this man is!:D

Absolutely Correct CueMister, anyone new to this thread, start at the beginning!:D

Wow, I never expected to gather such a loyal following. Don’t worry, no-one has to drink the cool-aid, just send in your Credit Card numbers. kd

Seriously, thanks Guy's!!

Panoramic

I got home last night and the family helped me clean up, so I thought I'd take a panoramic picture of the room.

Thanks for answering that question for me. I did go back to the beginning of this thread when I had more time to really look everything over. Really beautiful work. My game room use to be my garage. I closed it off myself and did all the work. So, I know the time & care that he is putting into his room. Thanks again.

Holy hell, dude.... That is insane, going into any pool hall would be a serious step down from that.

This is just so amazing.

OK-start thinking about the rate to charge for renting the place out-for...bachelor parties, chaperoned graduation parties..whatever.

Man this room is nice. Unbelievable.

You, your Dad, and now your son's involvement--mighty fine job by your family. Let's not forget your wife.

Wow!

nice work sir.

Was wondering if you could explain to us how you plumbed up the sanitary sewer and the water. I dont remember seeing any pics? Thanks in advance.

Awesome job on that cueholder. Have you decided on stain choice for all this wood?

Funny you ask, the other day I went to Home Depot with 30 small pieces of rags, my paint can opener an 8' foot piece of oak and a sharpie.
I set up a little staining area in the isle. I first marked and labeled the wood with each stain color I was considering and went to town. An employee walks up and asks if I needed help, I politely said no. He then says to me sarcastically “you know the colors are printed on the front of the cans.” I turn to look up at him, because I’m sitting on a bucket, and say “You’re not very experienced with stain are you?” I think this may have offended him, I then showed him the actual stain on the wood comparing them to the pictures on the can, some were close, in others there was a big difference. I ‘m not about to take a chance with this size of project and just go by a picture on the can.
Any hoo, the color I’m considering is English Chestnut or Red Oak, they have the tone I think will really match the wall color.

Here are pictures I took sometime back in November. When I built the house I set a clean out right before it tapped into the city sewer, it just so happen to be right next to the Room, so it was easy to tap into. In one of the first post theres a picture that shows the 18" deep trench I dug for the water line, cable and electrical.

Great job! Nothing like a clean out strategically placed for future improvements.

Another question I forgot to ask was tie down anchors. I dont remember seeing any during your build. Myself living in tornado alley we cant live without them.

Speaking of which after the build is complete, is the room insured? Please check with your insurance agent to make sure that your policy includes your new room.

Other than that, rock on, everything looks good sir!!

I personnally don't think this exists. I think you are taking pics from mags and posting. To do my civic duties I would volunteer to drive up from San Antonio to your place; drink copious amounts of the necktar of the gods, and play lots of pool so I can report back to all members that this is in fact real. oh BTW will there be any good lookin ladies on those bar stools? :)
