DCC Bits and Pieces

What I'm saying is that I think guys who are real threats to win one of the major events should do their best to be in good shape for those matches. Playing different games late into the early morning may not be the best preparation. Pace yourself. Winning the primary events here will be of lasting significance to those players.

You can't eat a trophy:grin:

I get it but Filler is young and i am sure his backers are having a big influence in his ear about the money matches.

I give the kid credit i heard him say a few times in the action room, guys all i want to do is play pool.lol

Reminds me of a lot of that scene in The Color of Money when Vincent tells Eddie i am pool player Eddie that's what i do i play pool.:)

Filler is banking like he's born and raised in the heart of bank pool land Kentucky or something not Germany lol

And they decided 3am is time limit cut off point so they can get some sleep for tomorrow's tourny matches.

I have to agree with you here. Filler is basically playing for a little over $800 a game Banks, when he has a chance at some serious five figure money in One Pocket and 9-Ball plus the 20K All Around award. The MOT typically makes between 40-50K total at DCC each year. It's a pretty serious score to take the all around title. There is also $7,500 at stake in the 14.1 Challenge. Filler could conceivably make over 50K in the tournament alone!

Youthful or not, if he plays until 3 AM tomorrow, I don't like his chances in any 10 AM match. We will see. This is where "experience" makes a big difference.

Well, Filler's chances to win MOT this year are small. He finished 25/37 in Banks and 28/43 in One-Pocket, good for only 10 or 11 points in each. But he is certainly a contender in 9-Ball.

In that case, then playing action matches might be his best bet to make money at DCC this year, although the 9-Ball usually pays 16K or more for first.

Filler wins 11-6 with 5 or 10 minutes left before 3 am. Good playing, youngster!

Now get some sleep!!!

That much money can attract the wrong people. As for me, if I'm ever carrying 50 large I want my two bodyguards along with me. You know, Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson.
Little Ms. Browning saved my ass one night a long time ago in Bakersfield, CA.

God made man. Sam Colt made them equal.

I like the kid. He's fun to watch and a hoot! I'll be following him in the future! He's got personality galore!

Does anyone know who sets up the tables at the Derby? I haven't heard any complaining so they must do a good job.

Diamond themselves. I aske a guy one year and he said they level them at the factory, take legs off and ship. When they unload all they have to do is re-install legs and and do a quick re-level. They have it down like an army drill.

First impressions can get you broke.

Watching Superman warm up for his match against JJ last night....
...he missed a lot of shots...and he was dogging it, moving his head on the final stroke.
.....so if I was there, I would given some action on Jeremy Jones....
...Jones knows everything....and plays good for the cash.

Long time before a ball got made first game....then Gomez runs 8 'n'out...
...second game...Gomez is minus one...runs 9 'n'out

Roberto Gomez wins 3-1....and proves I don't know what I'm talking about...:embarrassed2:

Yes. Before their match began, Gomez was unhappy about having to face JJ. Then he controlled the match from the start, beating JJ 3-1.

He's in action with Hennessey right now as I type this playing 9 ball. He was up 17-10 when we came back to the room. Think they were going to 21 with Henny getting games on the wire. Not sure how many. The pace of play was ummm...slow so we decided to head back to the room and call it a night.

Filler gave Hennessey four on the wire to 21. Beat him a set on a barbox, then again on a 9 foot table.

One Pocket

I watched Skyler Woodward absolutely run over JJ, which I thought was a HUGE upset. Skyler beat Jeremy Jones 3-0 and by the second game, JJ had given up.

The next set I see Skyler have Tony Chohan in an absolute trap of no escape and Tony shoots, balls go everywhere including one in Tony's pocket. Skyler looked and said, "What the hell just happened?" That was the first game, and Skyler was done. I think Tony won 3-1 and it really wasn't even close.

Throw rocks at me, but it really showed me that Tony never gave up, and while Skyler shoots 10 times straighter than Tony, One pocket moves and knowledge, and the refusal to give up is more powerful than straight shooting.
