I was just thinking how much money it takes to put on this event every year, and what

kind of return it is getting. It can't be all that bad, fills every year for twenty years. How much

do the sponsors pay, what is the casinos take, how much meat is left for the proprietors of the

tournament. Would another DCCeske tournament be something people would venture

to twice a year? I know I would. Never enough action on the pool table imo...I know the

answers, just want to hear from you folks.

They tried it and had The Southern Classic it was like a sister event for DCC that lasted only a couple of years i think.

Was good event but I think the location was one of the biggest down falls of the event.

You know the answer? Huh?

I think it odd that one thinks he has some entitlement to the financial dealings of a non-public venture.

This reminds me of a post in another thread that was inquiring the numbers of the DCC and if they line up.

I hope Greg is making a ton of money off the Derby. He busts his ass, puts his heart into and and allows me to have one of the best weeks of the year.

I hope he is making a killing so it never ends. Reality, I'm sure it is barely profitable and he does it because he loves pool.

Not really, I am not entitled to anything, especially the books for the DCC, and am not specifically looking

for that, just approximations. The answer I know, is it takes more than what I think, and is why it won't be

duplicated or copied. But hey, just thinking outside the box and wondering what is needed to put on other

great events that support pool in America. BB I know you have many great ideas, don't be shy about

sharing them, I know that this is merely a discussion, but one I would like to hear ideas from others,

positive or negative. I have my doubts about another DCC sister event, and am looking for someone to

say otherwise.

One thing I noticed this year when walking by the tournament desk was a stack of blueprints. They were professional done and had the layouts of all the tables, lights, railings etc. These cost thousands just to get done. I think there are lots of expenses we don't realize.

I bet even if you had the same attendance numbers, the only way another event would work would be in Louisville also. I think the money saved in table transport and using his local staff for the event makes a big difference. (Diamond factory is 20 minutes from tournament site)

Haha! Joke is on you! I got no great ideas at all!!!
Doh.

It is my understanding or from memory that the DCC lost money the first 3 years, but started making a little from then on.

IMO, it is the best event of the year. Could it be better? Sure, I sat with Greg at the HOF dinner and he was disappointed he couldnt get more tables in. But he was excited about getting a new software program.

I think Greg tries to really improve the event each year.
