The contrac's not signed, but it's 90% that the next DCC will be held at Caesars Indiana. I had hoped to have a signed contrac before posting, but things like this always take longer than I they should.

I'm not going into all the pros and cons about the move at this time, but I will later. Just wanted to keep everyone as informed as possible. If this go's the way I think, this move may be just what the DCC needed............Please save comments yey or nay till the inks dry and I get a chance to tell you the whole story....thanks, Greg Sullivan

First. Caesars Indiana located in Louisville, right? That kind of threw me for a loop.

its very close to louisville...only minutes really

Coming up from Nashville on I65 N. Mapquest doesn't show any bridges anywhere south of I64 going through downtown L'ville. which will add a half hour for those coming up on 65 N.

Are there any bridges south of I64 not shown on Mapquest?
Whatever...looks like a great facility!

Thanks
Jim

Good luck Greg, I'm reserving my room as soon as you firm it up,(dates too) Did you ever consider re-naming it the "Diamond Champions Classics" or "Diamond Cuesports Classic", same initials DCC ? You deserve name brand recognition considering all you've done for pool.

something is better than nothing, everyone I spoke to that went last year got sick, not one person escaped being sick, there was one more problem with last years event is there was 10 pounds of pool in a 5 pound-but that was kinda cool in its own way.

the other hotels with out a casino cost alot more $$$ than properties with gaming, because they bank on people giving the casions(I live in Vegas and cant spell casion right...OMGWTF???) action, thats why they have cheap rooms because they WILL get the action-read on. And the joints are right they do get action which will rob pool of alot of action at the DCC, look last week at the BCA thing at the Rivera there was one set a 8 ahead for 2 or 3 thousand between Kirkwood and Frost other than what was planned before the event there was no action. With thousands of people only one set???

I have lived in Vegas bor almost 20 years and spent alot of time in Reno since 85. Casinos kill pool action...PERIOD. There was a card room 50 yards from a poolroom in Stockton Ca, I would beg guys to play for $20/set taking the worst of it or more $$$ and they wouldnt play, walk over to the card room and they would be holding $1000 in $100 chips playing Pia-Gow with the tiles-with a 10% rake(getting way the worst of it). There is shit for action at the pool rooms in Vegas, Reno. online poker didnt do pool any favors either. Need I go on??? It's easier to blow your $$$ in a casino than in pool because of business or self esteem by getting beat. Blame the cards, dice what ever-God forbid take responsibility for losing a dime-10 cents playing pool.

At the Reno tournments in the Sands was there ever action there over the past 24 years? not much considering how many players, bank rolls were in the joint for all those tournments. Over the hill in Sacramento there was awalys good solid action. It had its cycles but it was awalys better than at any gaming property, same for Hardtimes tournments in Bellflower.

Perhaps there is no other alternative because gas is $86/gal and with big Hotel bills nobody would show up, but what would the Derby be without action??? It is action take that away and you got a zillion players racing to 7 missing their matches because they were up all night going off on some stupid machine. That aint the Derby to me, I dont know what that is. I hope I'm wrong I mean real wrong, but my 20+ years of seeing pool next to gaming makes me pretty confident i'm not. Am I gonna go? YES. How long will I stay? I dont know. If action room(s) are empty, I wont stay for long. I hope it works.

But like Johnston City good things end.

But Greg is very smart and a hard worker(I admire him), I hope he sees this post and keeps working to find a non-gaming property that works for all of us.

Best of luck.

The Derby in Louisville has out grown Lousiville.....I would like to see a venue like Ceasers....clean, modern, restaurants etc.and plenty of room.

Maybe a little bit further south would be nice....better weather.

But, Indiana will work.

Kudo's to Greg for always working on ways to improve the Derby! The Derby is successful because of Greg and I think we should all support him in his decision on the move.

Sorry FB, but I have to take a bit of exception to your observations. Casinos kill action ? Not likely. People kill action. As illustrated in the Color of Money, didn't the old guy like to play, but just didn't want to give his money away ? Good lesson. Everytime I play someone for cash, there's always a mouth attached. I don't need to give away my money to some dingaling who isn't smart enough not to shut up. I can easily afford to play for cash, but why should I give away money and take insults at the same time ??? If I ever cross your path, we'll play and I won't make you take the worst of it. You are supposed to be educated. Because of that, I have every right to expect you to act that way. Folks gamble in golf all the time and I see them clamoring to pay $50 green fees on weekdays. So....where is the rub ?? Probably because on a golf course, there isn't sharking, the game is played by gentlemen and if you bark and woof at me between holes, I'm going to knock you out with my 2 iron and no one will ever see it. Yep. Needed new grips. Just like Ted Knight. Capece ?

There was a time, about 13, 14 years ago, that I frequented a room that had action every single day, starting early in the afternoon and going to the early morning hours. 1pocket, 9ball, ring games, and even pool players gambling at 3C when the pool tables were filled.

Then the first boat opened here and, shortly thereafter, the action began to dry up. Not only at that pool room, but others in the city too. Within a couple years, pool room action was dead throughout the area.

I know Greg & Co. are working hard for pool and I applaud their efforts and wish them the best. But with going to a casino, there is a certain element of "getting in bed with the devil." Hope I'm wrong.

Well Indiana is almost better than nothing...... Now eveyone wants to know the DATES, and if DCC People will get a Special Rates = (CHEAP ROOM RATE) .

Just realized I have a Harrah's Player Club Card.. Wahoo.....

I'll do what I can

Greg, you and Mark can avail yourself of my website and blog (www.bankingwiththebeard.com) to promote and update the DCC event. I'm getting plenty of hits on my site, so you will be able to reach a few more people. Plus you know me, I am totally positive and supportive of whatever you do to promote our game. Call me, you've got the number.

Personally, I think the move may be good. The Dcc is just getting too big, and needs a better venue to grow. Imagine it growing to having 1000+ players in the Bank event. Not sure if they have the room for that many tables at the Casino, but Greg knows what he's doin". He was smart enough to grow this event from an idea. So he's got my support. I'll be there.....

The King is dead. Long live the King!

Derby City, as we have known it for the past ten years, is dead, gone, fini. The new venue will have a different ambience and "feel" and will have different pros and cons as compared to the Executive West. Fatboy is surely correct when he says that holding the event in a casino will significantly reduce the pool action, but for some of us, the action at DCC was not an important reason for going to the event. I attend the DCC mostly to hang out with people who I don't see that often, ogle the vendors' wares, and see some world class pool, so I will attend next year as long as the location isn't too long a drive. And who knows, I may like the new venue better than the old one - I'm willing to keep an open mind about it.
