What improvements are going to be made this year? Hopefully there is a vast improvement this year. I feel that this year is going to make or break the event for the future.

I watched the SVB vs. Alex TAR video that took place in DCC at the previous hotel and it made me start to think about the differences between the two venues, mainly the "action" rooms. There was so much more action and good matches to sweat in the years prior to last year.

Also, the tables for the tournament were way too close together last year. I hope that is improved upon.

Finally, the new venue is pathetic when you think about all of the logistics. Unfortunately it is impossible to move the airport, hotels, restaurants and other points of interest closer to the casino.

Anybody have any details? Whats Greg doing to help all of these issues this year?

I don't know of anything but I will say the 2008 DCC in Lexington was kickass. I heard that the new venue has short comings. Are they thinking about moving it back to Lxton?

I think Greg signed a 3 year deal with the Horseshoe to keep it where it is. I understand he also has taken all feedback into consideration and is going to improve on a lot of things as well. Also there are supposed to be many more food places in the Horseshoe this year that will be open.

Good news on the food places. The food last year was less than par. I couldn't wait to get to the Cracker Barrel once I left there.

DCC has never been in Lexington.....

I'm sure Greg will make some minor changes, but honestly I would go if it was outside in the snowstorm. Greatest week of the year.

It doesn't hold a candle to the years of previous, in my opinion. I went to every DCC since the first one, and last year was the worst ever. I am going this year in hopes for a better experience, and at least somewhat close to years previous.

There was more action at this past one than most of the others.

Most people are looking to sweat Efren/Cliff, Cooney/Walden, Alex/Sliced bread and don't have a clue what else is going on.

We had way more action this time (and we always have alot), it was hard to keep track of it.

There was more action. Craps ran from the time it started till ,,,,,, hell they are still playing probably

I agree, it was the worst of the years I have attended and I have attended all of the DCC. I felt like I was on the Baton Death March each time I went back to my room.

I am upbeat and hopefull that there will be quite a number of changes to improve it.

As far as the gambling, it was pretty cramped. I cant believe there couldnt be more room, and spectator seating. The Jansco brothers were doing it 100 years ago at Johnson City and after about 10 DCC they still cant get it right?

Hoping for the best, kinda expecting little.

The last year in Louisville was the worst. There were no big money matches. Just a bunch of kids, wannabees with no bankrolls but a big mouth running around - trying to either be heard or looking for someone to dump. The one's with the least amount of money were the loudest and most annoying. I was bored to death. I kept waiting for something to happen but nothing did. I saw more dump matches than I saw real ones.

The food @ Harrah's is far superior. The Executive Inn was the pits. Don't know how anyone could think otherwise.

I would like to see a larger action room and the vendors to get a better location. Beyond that, I had no complaints. Parking was better. Food was better. The hotel staff was better. Twice @ The Executive I showed up and my reservation was not at all close to what I had confirmed on the phone. The walk to the room was longer but much safer - plus I am fat and could use the exercise.

Lot's of different opinions on this subject.

I personally enjoyed last year's DCC as much as any I have ever attended. The accommodations at the Horseshoe were MUCH better. For those crying about "the good ole days back at the Executive"... those days are gone. That place has been remodeled and it would never be the same even if the event moved back there. That place was a dump IMO.

The food choices were much better at the Horseshoe... no comparison to the EW. And as some have said... the Horseshoe is a much safer environment.

As far as action, I saw some great match-ups last year. Has everyone forgotten about Shane and Buste? I watched Kirkwood and Kentucky Jim play banks for hours and it was one of the most entertaining matches I have ever seen... it would not have mattered if they were playing for $2 or $20K... it was fun to watch.

There are certainly some issues that need to be addressed, the biggest being the space between the tournament tables IMO.

I played in the bank tournament, and it was difficult to find out when your next match was scheduled. I know they had some problems with the tournament software, so hopefully that will be fixed this year. I would also like to see the tournament schedule on closed circuit TV so you can access the information from your room.

I spoke with Justin from TAR this week and I know they are making some changes to the Action Room to attract higher profile match-ups.

Hopefully Greg, and/or others involved with the tournament, will make some posts outlining the changes that we can expect for this year's event.

I can't wait until January 22nd!

W-man,
Horeshoe is definitely superior; though that walk is significant to get to the venue from the rooms.

I really liked the Shane-Efren match.

I saw matches for $10K, $8K, $4K, $4K, and $18K (all involving a professional friend, I think only 1 was in the action room, exact numbers a bit hazy). Should I be calling you when these things happen? I am as positive as I can be that no dumping was occurring.

I agree watchez, it was annoying. Then a bunch of nitwits wanna vote for Scooter for the Louie Roberts Award....

I much prefer seeing Weenie Beenie, politely ask and get a game and play.

Watching a herd of mouthy dump artists isnt for me. But apparently some are easily impressed.

WB-man -

I think I wasn't clear. I was referring to the matches the previous year at the Executive Inn in Louisville. I don't think your professional friend was in action then. No one was. It sucked. The highlight of the entire DCC that year was Fatboy punking out Bucktooth.

And if you hear of any real action, always give me a call.

I'm pretty sure the action room this year will be the big room upstairs where they played the Fatboy 10 ball tournament.

The only Action at last years DCC was in the Casino. Sure, Efren and Shane played because of one person who is fortunate enough to have the money to basically pay them to play. That isn't action to me.

Of course Scooter stayed in quite a bit of action last year and I can see why you are saying this Watchez. I think you even beat him out of a few dollars.

The action rooms were way too cramped and people were all more concerned with getting drunk and going to the casino. I miss the Executive where there was plenty of space, and guys could gamble wherever the hell they felt like it.

Also, I do not like getting interrogated when entering and leaving the action room by Casino personnel.

It is too expensive, too cramped, and the food was not that good. I even remember you complaining when we broke bread once?????

I would much rather prefer the hospitality of the Executive, and I heard Timid Terry is now working there.

The buffet was not good - below average especially for the price but still better than the buffet at The Executive. Best thing about the buffet was that you paid. The food in the deli/coffee shop across from the buffet was good. The food in the bar/grill up by the hotel front desk was even better.

Bartram - Banks I and II. Dominguez - Shuff. Beckley - Bergman. Monster John vs I forgot. Those are the matches I remember. From the DCC in 2008, I can't remember one match cause there was none.

I only pay attention to Scooter when I think I can get into his pocket. The rest of the time I try real hard to imagine that he is not there.

Timid Terry is at The Executive? We need to go.

But the biggest question is who is going to hold BJ's banana this year? Has last year's holder applied again for the position?
