De Luna at it again

So Jeff De Luna just had another “you didn’t call it” moment. What a tool.

Hopefully Mika will haunt his dreams tonight.

At one of the recent big CSI events in Vegas, I was watching a match and realized I was sitting next to De Luna. He turned to me and started chatting about something or another. I just ignored him and looked the other way.

What rule set are they using?

Unclear. Nobody on the stream or chat seemed to know for sure.

If it’s WPA I think it’s wrong.

Even if it’s under CSI/BCAPL rules where all kick shots must be called, I’m wondering whether it is considered a kick shot under their rules. The rail is adjacent to the pocket in question.

Or maybe it depends on if it’s considered “incidental”.

it was obvious, BUT what's obvious is a matter of interpretation and therefore also something that deluna may use against you. laz should have known that.

i don't like deluna, but it takes balls to do stuff like that in hostile territory. he did the same thing in the dominican crew's home turf. he doesn't care.

I guarantee he sees it as a "zero downside, all upside" play.

Not knowing any details, I’m going to give De Luna a temporary pass. What did him and the other player discuss before the game? Unless you were standing there, you don’t know. So depending on that conversation determines whether it was a good call Or not.

The letter of the law vs the spirit of the law.
When before the Judge my explanation of the circumstances got, Guilty, one dollar next. So he followed the Letter but also recognized The Spirit.
I personally developed the habit of calling everything as a comic self state mint just barely audible. To cover the Nits. I encountered one that claimed uncalled 8 ball. When rounding the table after survey I tapped the corner and said, "right here". I guess to satisfy him I would have called the pocket sweetheart before the shot rather than after. 🤷‍♂️ 😉. His plea to the tournament director was diss missed.

It was mentioned on FB that some kind of rule exception was agreed upon before the match, which was probably why the call wasn't argued.
Why anyone would want to play that way is crazy to me.
It's 100% obvious he was playing that ball.

There are other pros that I might be willing to give the benefit of the doubt to, but Jeff isn’t one of them. That said, you could be right.
