Decisions, decisions - urgent input needed

Also, a 9' table isn't 9'.

A 7' is 84" (actually 7'), 8' is actually 88" (7' 4"), 8.5' aka 8' pro is 92" (7' 8"), and 9' are 100" (8' 4").

I just got a diamond "8 foot model" pro. Yup, it's the oversized version. Just barely fits, but I had lots of room around the 7'.

Cushion to cushion measurement is what's important. Most, if not almost all 7 footers I have measured were 78 x 39. My 8 footer is 88x44, cushion nose to cushion nose. There are variations, but the 84 inches seems a little excessive.

Yeah, that's the big end of 7'. 78" is 6' 6".

But the moral of the story is that they're all smaller than they say, and not necessarily as big a difference between them.

When I got my first table I figured at just over 17' (206") I could only fit a 7' table. Nope, and now I'm replacing with bigger, although 8' pro is a hair too long in a couple of places (57" on the ends between the windows).

WOOF! Thats got to be scary when you break! Windows at ends of table! Lol

How the hell are you going to get a 9' pro am down into a basement? Will the cart roll down stairs?

The make 3-piece slate too... for the nine and the 7 footer...I know, I'm still on the fence on which to get ;)

Not sure about that for the pro ams. The frame itself won't be much smaller.

I only was able to get my 8'+ pro upstairs because it was a very old version where we could disassemble the sub frame. That's tiny compared to the size of the monolithic proam frames.

7' diamond all the way. There's nothing more cheesy and frustrating than playing on a table with walls in the way. You will hate it. There's no room for chairs, etc, so your friends will hate it. You'll avoid the room, do yourself a favor, and stick to 7'. Or just put a couch and tv in the room, cuz that's the only other thing it's suited for.

Sorry the paint comment was dry humor. my width is 13'6" on the dot and that is exactly what several "dimension guidelines" gave. So I don't have any "room" to spare.

You might want to recheck that. I was looking for a friend and the 13'6 measurement was for an 8 ftr. With 58 in. cues. A 9 footer and even an 8OS. will be very tight.

Thanks all. Im glad I checked here first... I have a pingpong table there now and marked off the 9' playing area & pro8 and used my cue (McDermott). The 9' marking will allow me 0 backswing on a 90-deg shot. while the pro8 will allow me a bit but that bit makes a hug diff. Granted, I will most likely be jacking up anyway but still...I hate hitting a wall at friends houses. So, unfortunately, I think I need to go to he pro8 - even though I really wanted that 9'. The O8' is a pretty Brunswick Prestige 15yr old. (http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/spo/4436645243.html) foor $1500. Going to check it out now.

Is this a good deal?

You sound like a player and these furniture style tables are more for the homeowners. I would wait until you can find a Gold Crown. $1500 in my opinion for that Brunswick is way too much.

Yes...:withstupid:

1500$ is a great price, for the seller. I doubt it would sell for that.

If you are patient, you will do better. I know it is something you want yesterday, but a table is a long term decision, so choose with that in mind.

There was one 8' OS diamond pro left where I got mine last weekend. In Ft Worth, so you'd have to pay to transport it, but at $1400 you'll still come out way ahead...

After he sold 3 of them (one to me, one to Cuephoric's buds) at $900 I guess he decided to sell the one he was keeping for himself...

It's from 1999, out of a fox and hound.

I some times shoot on a friends 9" Gold Crown IV and it is a very good table. I like the 9' Diamond Pro Am better. The table at my friends house is to close to the wall on the long rail with a 58" cue and way to close with my 61" Diveney. I think 14' 8" x 18' 8" inches is a minimum for a 9' table. If I ever get my pool room built I will have a minimum of 5' on all sides.
