how are you guys threading on your delrin buttcaps? i tried a few different ways. the way i do it the most is with a tenon from the handle thn epoxy and hold it on with the weight bolt

steve lomax told me he uses like 5/8 threaded rod made of teflon. i dont know the tpi does anyone else to this. where can i get that rod and how are you thread the delrin and buttsleeve

TEFLON in A-joint?
He's pulling your leg I think.
Fiberglass or carbon fiber maybe.

I thread 7/8's nine threads per inch. but not in delrin, the only thing thats holds it on is a bolt like your doing.

i deff want to find a way to thread it on. even with grooves sometimes the epoxy doesnt hold well. i had one break loose and spin a little. i lost perfect center and felt a lip no matter whenre i tried to reglue

this threaded rod seems like the best way.

heres something i found

Why not cut a tennon on the delrin cap, thread it up in the cue with say a 3/4-10 and then drill and tap and screw a 3/8-16 inside of that up in the wood. The two mechanical bonds would be enough without glue. That being said I would still epoxy the crap out of the delrin. Try roughing up with sandpaper before you glue it...

Threading it 3/4 16, and three vertical channels should hold it.
T-88 epoxy .

Try Scotch Weld DP 420 structural adhesive. Far outperforms the low dollar epoxy (e.g., Two Ton) for this application, IMO.

I use a 5/8X18, get the brass threader from Cue man, cut some slots for the glue to work as a lock,

I cut grooves in the butt cap and use an epoxy that's really made for gluing steel together ... Haven't had one fail so far ... Knock on wood ... I use this epoxy in all aspects of the construction ... Far superior to all the other adhesives I've tried and I can tell the difference in the feel of the hit ... More solid and the security of knowing your work isn't going to come apart sooner or later ... this stuff takes a torch to make it fail ... What is it ??? Hmmmmmmmmmm... Ever seen how hackers beat the you know what out of their golf clubs and they still remain intact ... i won't advertise , but search any club making supplies and get the slowest cure ... I used to make custom fitted sets of clubs for the public ... now like cues everybody and their brother is doing it ... This epoxy is very good and has many applications ... I hope it benefits you in some way ...

5/8-11 threaded wood rod for me, with a phenolic nut to lock works great for me. But my experience with delrin buttcaps is limited. I just use what I think will give the strongest & most secure lock on that delrin so it'll never budge.

thanks. thats how i feel too. ive had some movement with just epoxy grooves and glue so i want to change it up

If you want to change-it-up for the better, why not just get rid of the Delrin? Why continue to fight with a mtrl. that was never intended to be bonded?
