Denver Pool Halls Closing

Ken-I heard 3PM from Melissa and 1:30 from Chuck.I guess a phone call at 10 AM would be the key. Hanks daughter had no idea what I was talking about today. Somehow I get the feeling that Hank does not care about anything that goes on there except his beloved golf players.

We need details! Will it be a one pocket, 8-ball, 9-ball or 10-ball tournament? What's the entry fee? Can you confirm that the tournament will be at 3PM? Are there any plans to have more tournaments in the future?

I'd also like to take the opportunity to suggest that we start a database of local players, with names, phone numbers and email addresses, upon which players can be notified about future tournaments. You might also want to consider having tournaments at other locations such as Rack 'em in Aurora.

Nichole said that she had heard that Rackem might try to pick up some slack and do some tournaments, but as far as I know, nothing is set in stone. I get the feeling however, just based on who I run into at Hanks, that if you make your new home at Hanks at least for the time being, it will be the best way to keep up on what's going on in the area. I'm still thinking about going to Hanks tonight, so if I hear anything, I'll be sure to post.

No another room is not closing. But there was supposed to be a tournament with $500 added guaranteed at Chasers on the 15th and 16th of this month. I just read in the Cue Times it has been canceled. Anybody know why?

Have you ever been there? I think I saw six bar boxes from outside the window as I quickly returned to my car after looking inside. I would imagine that they were biting off more than they can chew by having many more players than they could handle.
I'm pretty happy with Hanks right now. Probably won't make it tomorrow night, but looking foward to playing there often.

The Nurse in Action?

What the heck is going on? I've been gone for a little over a year and now it's all gone to crap? Hopefully it will be kinda like poker rooms, where all of the action will congregate to the location that is best for action. Elijah is gone, Rizzo is gone. Is Samm gone now too? Where are all the homeless pool players living now?
Tell Kiko I'm coming back for some more $50 and $100 a game bank pool; and tell Pepe he's got 10-6, but he can't cry if (when) he loses. No cry or No game amigo! Moving back April 1st. Tony Piaza, we can play some poker but no bank pool with you, I can't take the pressure with my weak peanut-sized heart.
Nicole K, at least I know we can match up. You've got more heart than all of 'em. Flip it...anyone on the rail want a side bet?

Stopped by hanks for the first time the other night. Nice pool room. With it being only about 10 mins from where I live, I see myself there pretty often. Just need to drag myself away from my table in the basement.

Let me know if any of you local folk want to meet up and play. Would be good to further my game by playing with someone besides the "ghost".

Cheers,
Brad

fwiw-TS/BI was not so great after they cut it in half, lost the good food and had the ink people running it.

I was playing 3C the with a guy that could shoot some 3C (he ran a 6 on me) and he told me about a place called King Billiard on S. Havana just across the street from Bozarth Chevrolet.

The 3C tables are nice to play on, the Korean regulars are ok with non-Koreans coming in to their room.

I believe they have (5) 9ft. Hollywood 3C tables and at least 2 maybe 3 GC's in the back.

Anyway it is another place to shoot if your over in Aurora.

Welcome back to the mile high city!

I'm still around, and so is my husband. I'm sure he'd love to play you some $50 or $100 whatever. You going to Derby?

See ya soon

Hanks was nice. Need to make sure your out of there before the late night crowd gets in though. Fights over music, people reeking of pot that they smoked outside. It turns into a bar that happens to have pool tables.

If I go again it'll have to be while the street lights are on, other than that I'll play on my home table.

Aside from the negative, earlier in the night it looked good. Groups of what looked like regulars enjoying the game of pool.

Just my $.02. Don't get me wrong I enjoy having a few beers while playing. Hopefully I'll find a good group of people I can enjoy that with.

Cheers,
Brad

Myself and my oldest boy made a crash trip down to Denver yesterday. About lunch time I decided to test my memory to see if I could remember how to get to Hanks(been awhile). Sure enough it was Paradise up front Family fun center around back and Hanks inside:cool:. We decided to eat and then play for an hour or so.

The menu was small but the smothered burrito was large and was good.
The staff were helpful and the tables looked maintained. I counted seven Gold crowns and eight bar boxs two snooker tables and a 3c.

As I remember, golf rules during mid day and it was cool watching the elder statesmen of the game shooting and interacting with each other. When we left there must have been 15 to 20 guys around those two snooker tables.
Parking seemed limited around back, I am not sure if they had a over flow lot.

I wish there was a bulletin board with pics or articles of the history of this room. I know there were a few greats there but nothing hanging around to remind you(maybe I missed it).

You know what I would love to see in denver?

A players pool room / cigar lounge with a liquor license. Something classy with five or so choice pool tables. Maybe with a membership. Would be great if we could make something like this happen. I'm full of ideas.

What do you think?

Brad
