Denver Pool Halls Closing

Wow I'm moving to Colorado, the springs I think and this is a very depressing thread, I don't get a lot of time to play I guess a basement with a table is in order. Hope to meet some of you when I get moved.

Ron O'Meara

We got Antiques in the Springs. About a thousand $.50 Diamond smart-tables, 4 Diamond pros, 2 carom tables, and a 10ft snooker table with a cheap golf game in the early afternoon. Plenty of $20 and $50 9Ball action (but they're all locksmiths these days). Not much in the range of thousands...but there's a couple guys in Denver to accommodate that. I think time is like 2.50/hr or something. Tournaments on friday nights on the bar tables. There's a lonely Gold Crown way in the corner but it has buckets and rolls like shit.

I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about, Antiques is a great place except Friday and Saturday nights when it's full of gangsters. Still, the natural geography of the place allows for a players' corner. It's right next to the bar, but better than nothing. So as long as asking people to move every once in awhile isn't the kind of thing that gets you all bent out of shape, it's a fine establishment.

Don't worry, Jim has no intention of closing the place.

Let me know when you get here.

I stopped in at Diamonds I guess the old corner pocket and was not real impressed will try some of the others when I get moved.

Lets get a count on the number of people that would want to partake in a "home" weekly / bi-monthly game.

I know there have been a couple of people willing to open up their table to AZ members, we'll I'd like to put my name in that hat also. By no means do I have a first class setup. What I do have is a finished (almost) basement that is dedicated to a "man-cave" (wife's approval). I have an 8' Olhaussen table with Simonis 860 cloth and a set of Super Aramith TV balls.

If we can get a few people to rotate houses we can make this happen. We could all meet at a local hall before we actually get this started to discuss the particulars and to make sure we all get along.

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers,
Brad

I volunteered my game room earlier in the thread. Count me in.

I would love to be counted in.

Having said that it will be a challenge to get down to Denver and play some with you guys. But !!!! with the right notice on a blizzard free day and the stars align just right I'm in:D.

Like I said earlier, I am down to get together and play, but I have no room to offer.

that being said, anyone want to meet up at matchups sometime? I'll pay table time, just need someone to shoot with.....

No reason it must be limited to table owners. Interested AZers are all welcome. We could make the first one a meet and greet. We could also talk about a small-stakes tourney format, say a $5 or $10 entry. Just thinking out loud here....

Yes Charlies and Table Stakes/Billiards Ink are done. Last day for Table Stakes is today. They may reopen in a few months but. Very bad news. At least Tom Ross is improving.

For the sake of non-Coloradoans who may not know there are (or were) two different Table Steaks locations, I wanted to confirm that only one of the locations has closed.

I just called Table Steaks East today to confirm they're still open. (I forgot to ask if the snooker table is still there, but I assume it is.)

Table Steaks East (has 1 - 10' table)
3253 S Parker Rd
Denver, CO 80014
(303) 743-8888
http://www.tablesteakseast.org/

However, the South location is closed:

CLOSED - Table Steaks South (had 2 - 10' snooker tables)
101 W Floyd Ave
Englewood, CO 80110
(303) 789-0643

Anyway, sorry to interrupt the thread.

To our East coast Brethren:wink: No need to apologize, I am sure there's a few around this area that were wondering. Sounds like you have been there before.

TS on Parker rd. isn't exactly a players place. There used to be another TS on Sheridan but it closed several years ago. It was my favorite location...dirty, grungy, and lots of action.

Don't go to Diamonds. Antiques is the only place you want to be in the Springs. It's right down the street from Diamonds: like walking distance.

I'm hearing rumblings that Charlie's and Table Steaks may reopen, both under new management. Any details out there?

Thanks,

Dave

I heard from a league rep that there is plans for a reopening from Charlies. As for when who knows. I know the new league session starts the 30th. So we keep our fingers crossed

The latest rumors are, and there are a lot of them:

  • Table Steaks-Antoinette is reopening one of these days
  • Charlies-opening under new management, more like a sports bar
  • Bobby B-opening his own room in Aurora

If all is true it's like famine or feast around here (in that order).
Wish Hank would just fix his place up a little.
I like it there, reminds me of the good old days.

Peace

Ted

I feel the same way about Hanks. I dont care about the decor but he needs to fix up the 9 foot tables. And you can't beat playing from 10 AM to 4 PM for $6.00.
Charlies like a sports bar!!!!!
