Day Two
Things were tougher for a lot of the players on Monday.
John Schmidt's high was 14; Niels was 4; Charlie Williams was 15.
Mike Davis, in his first inning, however ran a nice smooth 146. It ended when his cue landed about a 64th of an inch from a ball straight in with no other shot. he was playing shape on it as he was doing a secondary break down below the rack and it just drifted a little too close. He shot away and missed.
Dennis Orcullo was second with a 74 and Beau Runningen was third with a 64 for the Daily Prizes.

Yes, some of it is. It comes as part of Accustats' DCC PPV coverage.
As I recall, that was in the European Championships three or four years ago. I believe the games were to 125.
I am not sure, but wasnt that during the 14.1 Invitational held at Comet Billiards and recorded by Accu-Stats.
I will have to check my dvd's out to verify

Nope, European championships in 2006 or 2005 :smile:. 125 point games. Charlie Williams discusses it on the finals of the 2006 World Championships.

I think it might have been streamed, but I don't know about recorded. You can find some Euro championships on Youtube, including 14.1, but I think they are from 2008 and 2009 sadly.
I remember talking to Ralf Souquet about that tournament and I'm pretty sure it was 2005 - before the IPT, and before Toastie won the BCA event in '05. I doubt if it was streamed or even recorded. I remember they provided scoring for those events. It is easy to forget that it was just a few years ago that we all relayed scores in the Azbilliards Chat Room during the US Open finals between Ronnie Alcano and Shane Van Boening.
I do recall him running back to back 150 and out's at Comet Billiards in NJ. I believe he won the match prior to those run outs also. Something makes me think that one was a 90.
They were not on the TV table at Comet.
Seeing all these pros only running 60s, 70s and 80s like this makes me feel a little better about my game. 
Of course I'd probably only get in the teens, but it makes me realize they don't always run hundreds whenever they have a clear shot at it.
Bob, are you recording all the runs (scores)? If so, do you have an average attempt score? Like 100 people tried and averaged 35.6 balls a try?

Dennis, Bill and Dana are working the 14.1 Challenge this year. I think Dennis is using the same score sheets as before, so stats will not be hard to do. In the past, only about 25 people have entered.
Recap
Twenty eight players entered (which was up from 26 last year) and for their $100 entry fee, they were given 12 attempts to see how many balls they could run. Cue ball in hand, 15th ball wherever they wanted to put it and 14 balls racked up.
Daily prizes were given for the top three runs during the four day preliminaries.

John Schmidt, who usually dominates the high run attempts, had an off year, running only 73. He did run a 149 in practice the day before the event started, but during the competition, he did not soar to his usual heights.

I think if we're going to include these "14.1 Challenges" in the "any competition" category, John Schmidt's run of 204 in last year's SBE 14.1 Challenge is actually the highest.
Or, am I missing something in the classification of "any competition"?

I think the key word is "recorded" run in competition.
I don't like including these high run competitions. Archer and Hohmann still have the high run at 173 as far as I'm concerned. It's much harder to run that within the confines of 200 point game than in a high run challenge.
So I think there needs to be a differentiator between tournament play and high run comp. It's only fair to Archer and Hohmann.
Well if i didnt goof and not plug the HD Cam in i would of had the whole run on video....But me being the bonehead i am i only got about 50% of the run !!!
Dont you worry we already have planned 2 HD cams for this year's event !!!
