I just purchased one of these. Is there a need to put any type cleaner on the balls first? Their web page says just plug it in and walk away, no mention of how long to set the time. Whats the best way of using these? thanks

I've been using one for a while. I wouldn't put anything on it... not a thing. If you put the wrong junk on the balls - - they start skidding. That thing takes all the grime off naturally. I think that's what you want... clean natural balls - with nothing on them.

I've tried Windex, but the balls came out looking dull.

I've tried the Aramith polish (put a spot of polish on the ball, then put it "spot-side" down into the cleaner (so it doesn't spray polish all over the room when it starts up), polish for about a minute or two. Balls look great then. You can then just throw them in the cleaner the next time or two with no polish and it buffs them up fairly nicely. I haven't noticed a single skid after using the Aramith polish. We did have a few skids with the Windex method. JMO.

I agree with Spider, if you can keep them clean from the start that should work for you, if not try Denatured Alcohol or the Super Aramith Ball Polish.

I talked to Chad & Paul from Diamond at the SBE they suggested Denatured Alcohol if needed. I have also used the Super Aramith Ball Polish with the polisher and they came out very nice. However the ball polish does get into the carpet & the cloth in the polisher.

I hope this helps.

thanks for the replys, how long do you set the timer for?
That depends on how dirty they are, if they are clean and you use your polisher on a consistant basis 10-15 minutes should be plenty.

ok, i uncrated it put a old set of balls in it that i replaced because the wouldn't shine up. I even took them to a local poolhall to get them cleaned, but after 10 minuited they are not to bad considering what they looked like before, pretty good really, and thats without putting anything on them.

I use the Maguires cleaner wax, it comes in a red can of paste wax. It won't cause the balls to skid, and they shin real good. Only use it on one side of the ball polisher, for cleaning, then use the other side for shining. Place 8 balls in the cleaning side, use a sponge to apply the cleaner wax while the balls are spinning, only takes a little, then turn it off, insert the sprocket to separate the balls, turn it back on. You'll see the balls speed up when the cleaner wax has been cleaned off the balls. At that time, shut it off, move the 8 balls to the shining side, load 8 more to be cleaned and repeat the process. With the cleaner wax, it only takes about 2-3 minutes to clean the balls. You can pick up the cleaner wax at any auto supply store.

The home version is not out yet, I'll be working on that while I'm back east at Diamond:D but it'll be ready not to long from now.

Diamond Ball polisher

SHAME on WilleBetMore - NEVER NEVER NEVER use windex on balls. It is suprising how often that is tried. It strips off everything from the ball and makes it "squeaky clean" which causes clinging and skidding. The balls want to drag and grab.

Some subscribe to the "wax" theory. I use the polish theory. Wax has carnuba and polish usually doesn't. I actually prefer Dri-wash (One of the original waterless polishers) - because it does NOT build up on the balls or the ball plisher.

If using wax, please use very little. And only once in awhile - not on every cleaning. There is a diference for a home owner and a commercial room.

A pool room should only have to run for 1 minute or so - usually 2-3 times a week. At our tournaments, we ran ron about 1 minute-dri-wash every third set or so. This is for up to 240 tables.

This machine is the NUTS.

That's why at the least, I mentioned the Maguires cleaner wax, it has no carnuba wax in the cleaner:D

The Bludworth ball cleaner is a better deal and it does a great job.

If that be the case, I wouldn't have sold about 100 of the double platter ball polishers to room owners that already had the Bludworth ball polishers;) They're not even close to each other, in fact the Bludworth polisher sounds like a jackhammer in use:D

Glen

PS. What do you think the BCA and Diamond was using BEFORE the commercial double platter ball polisher came along?...the Bludworth, why do you think the both replaced them?;)

Any ballpark figure what the home versions are going to run and can I get on a list for one of the first ones out the door?
