Diamond tables (Black phenolic vs. Dymondwood)

The cue ball is separated by density, hardness, because it's harder than the object balls

Huh? I sincerely doubt that.

The technology to determine that would be too expensive.

The cue ball would have to have a different density than object balls (no way diamond would do that).

Thanks for the pics! I personally like the new "wood" better than the dymondwood. I had wanted an all black table. The closest in the Dymondwood material was the charcoal color. It was more grey than black, imo. I really like this new look.

Of course, we each have our own personal preferences with colors. Hopefully Diamond can find a supplier to fill the preferences of others.

Edit to add I'd have to see the table in person to be sure:)

^^^^^ This.. I like em lots... Fits my home decor better actually. I think I'll have one soon.

Yes, for sure - thanks for those diamond wood pictures for comparison - after seeing them side by side, there is no question, those were gorgeous tables. Watch for the value in those to go up. The actual wood grain looks beautiful compared to the imitation grain of the pressed paper/phenolic treated panels in the new editions.
No problem !

Good points! As you can see, my decor of concrete goes with just about everything!

Thanks so much for the pics, CK.

They don't look too bad, but i think the woody style is a bit classier. My opinion may change after i get my hands on them. Just gotta wait and see.

No Problem at all Mr. Banks. They do make a gorgeous table over there at Diamond, and these are beautiful tables. Just a little plain jane without those deep wood grain panels. But that's really nit picking. You'll see.

Just talked to Greg here at turning stone about these tables. The ball takes 8 seconds to get to the box, so there is about a 4.5 second delay as opposed to the non coin opp tables. This wood is actually pressed paper with phenolic treatment, so it's very hard. so far black is the only color but they want to work with others.

The diamond wood factory burnt to the ground and the owners got an insurance settlement and retired, so they won't get that type of wood again. Unless another company copies the formula and starts to produce which he is hoping for.

Until then, this is the material they will be using.

Pockets are 4.5 "corners 5 "sides.

These tables are going right from here to Derby

You must have spoken with Paul, as Greg is not at Turning Stone he's at home, I just talked to him. But he did want me to tell you thank you for posting the pictures that you've posted, and to let everyone know that there is talks going on right now with the Dymondwood' company being back in production sometime in the very near future, which may or may not give Diamond options for the materials they use on the finish of their rails, Diamond is always looking at options to get better and better where they can improve.

Glen and Greg.

One of the last Dymondwood Diamonds

I talked with Donny at West State billiards yesterday. He has a few Dymondwood Diamond 7' Pro-Ams left. He delivered mine on Friday. Here are some pics.

Thanks for the clarification, Glen. As always you are the go to source for the inside diamond info.

Quick question, if these tables are going to Derby, will the tv table at accu stats arena be re clothed, or will it have the same cloth as turning stone (already broke in)?

I can't answer that one right now, but I will try and get an answer for you asap.

glad to have seen the pics too, thanks.

I hate to be mustard and pepper on french fries, but I prefer the new material's look.

The grain of the diamondwood in that smoke color is something I have never truly liked...Love the way it plays 106% though!

I will add my 2 cents, Moonrakers table is the best looking Diamond as far as I am concerned. When I have the room for my 7' table alongside my Gold Crown it will be the above table. I hope they are able to reproduce the Dymondwood tables in the future.

Absolutely agree, that color combination of the rose wood and tournament blue had become iconic. That's exactly what I always planned to get when I have space next to my gold crown.

Of course, how to justify owning two pool tables to the wife will be another tall order:p

Thank you very much for the pictures! I really do like both the older dymondwood table and the new black phenolic. I am hoping to get to see one of the new black tables in person at the Derby. Any way you look at it, Diamond is the way to go!

All sixteen tables were packing up at turning stone and heading to Derby so you are in luck. You'll definitely see them in person.

I got my order for my Charcoal Diamond Pro Am just before the fire, so my table is the "smoky black" version. I had actually wanted a solid black table, but since one wasn't available, I went with the smoky black charcoal Dymondwood. Lucky for me. The Charcoal Dymondwood is sexy as hell. I wouldn't trade it in for anything.

Freddie <~~~ sexy is as sexy does

IMO wood should be brown and not black. I think the rosewood Dymondwood table is gorgeous. I won't be parting with mine any time soon.

My favorite is the cocobolo table, but like an earlier poster said...
'I cringe every time a ball hits it'.
