Diamond Ten Ball Invitational

Okay here you go, The Invitational International World Ten Ball Challenge....at Derby City with all players wearing toupees! Do you like it?

"The Derby 10 Ball"

This is all anyone is saying when they ask me "Who's in The Derby 10 Ball'?", "How much is The Derby 10 Ball?", "You guys put Alex in the Derby 10 ball?", etc., etc. and you know when its over everyone will just be asking........."Who won The Derby 10 Ball?"

"The Derby 10 Ball"

Seems kind of simple and I think most people would know what you're talking about.

I like it, if all players are required to wear tuxedo t-shirts as well.

This should be a classy event, ya know.

Where has Jeff Beckley been since he won the Reno 8 Ball last year?
Just curious.

What's with the hair fetish thing? I REALLY like the word INTERNATIONAL used and Invitational is probably a good idea to use it as well.

Now get a logo designed.

DCC ten ball

I agree with Steve.
Keep it simple - but I would add 'Challenge' to it.
Derby 10 Ball Challenge. (DCC 10 Ball Challenge)

No 'world' - 'invitational' - 'international' etc.
(remember, this has to good for print also)

On the same lines as Justin says, i think you should have a dress code. Dress pants, shoes and a smart collared t shirt.

no jeans trainers etc... makes the event more prestigious.

While simple might seem better (easier to say, easier to print etc), this event is becoming an International event, not just some local ("Derby" event.) with the promoters interested in bringing in talent from all over the world as well as the fans of this event.

When international pool athletes from remote parts of the world see the title, they might be more inclined to attend an event with the words International or Invitational in the title.

Adding a bit of prestige to the title isn't going to hurt this event imo. Unfortunately, "Invitational" is a two-edged sword. Some pool athletes outside of the pipeline might think that they have to be invited. I'm sure some have never thought of asking if they might be "eligible" for this event.

Stepping on the toes of other event titles, and garnering some of their sunshine; well that is a different story.

Jay,

Could have sworn very early on this thread you said you wanted something creative not OBVIOUSLY pool related. Or DCC related. Or International. Or Diamond.

Make the entry fee 1000 dollars or a grand.

THE GRAND POOBAH TEN BALL CHAMPIONSHIP. :D

TEN BALL GRAND POOBAH. :p

Hi Mark, Hi Joey,

I really think simple is better. The Derby City Classic speaks for itself.

Do you think most people know these events?

The Stanley Cup
The World Series
The Super Bowl
The NBA Finals
The World Cup
The Wimbledon
The Masters
The Players Championship
The British Open
The Indy 500
The Daytona 500
The Kentucky Derby
The Preakness
The Belmont

Most have longer names but this is what they're known by.

Things are always added on posters and other media but when you say these events and there's more of them, people know what you're talking about.

I also think a cool trophy for it would be...a Derby hat with a 10 ball on it.

Another cool trophy would be for the U.S. Open One Pocket...a pool table pocket on a base.

I can see this becoming a prestigious event with invitations going to the winners of certain tournaments (even the 2nd place), then some qualifiers to get a spot in it and hold back a few promoter wild card spots.

Happy New Year to you guys and Mark, say Hi to Sunny and Holly for me.

THE GRAND POOBAH TEN BALL CHAMPIONSHIP. :D

TEN BALL GRAND POOBAH. :p

If you're looking for names that are a little more current, hip, or propsective meme type name, you might consider the following.

THE GRAND 10 x 10 (add Championship if needed)
THE GRAND 10 x
THE GRAND 10 Ball x 10 Championship
THE GRAND 10X
THE GRAND 10² (I got this from the other poster's original idea) Ten squared is also known as 10 x 10 which is the basis of this event, Ten Ball played on 10 foot tables.
THE GRAND 10 By 10
THE GRAND 10 By

I like putting the word GRAND in there as it ties in the entry fee.

I still like having Kentuckiana in the title. The Kentuckiana 10 by 10? I'm probably crazy, but it always stuck out to me when driving to Louisville there was a truck sales place called Kentuckiana Mack which I always thought would be a great name for a country band.

What's with the hair fetish thing? I REALLY like the word INTERNATIONAL used and Invitational is probably a good idea to use it as well.

That name was a JOKE! But the toupees are real .

That is CORRECT! That is why The Bigfoot Challenge is still in the lead.

Titan Challenge
